can someone help me im trying to use the music track for the booster pack background music
did you define select_music_track on the SMODS.Booster?
because the error message is telling you not to do it like that
alternately, it could be because your key doesn't contain the string music
(an odd limitation, but there you go)

is there a equivalent to steammodded for accesing config pages for mods which is considered less buggy? I believe my steammodded is not playing nicely with either saturn/cartomancer/both in combination.
most notably saturn stacking negative consumables gives permanent extra consumable slots when they are sold/used
through some searching others seems to think it's steammodded causing this and same behavior when selling negative jokers with some mods/conditions

Steamodded is not considered buggy. However depending on what version of Saturn you have, it may be incompatible with steamodded. I can try helping with that if you can tell me what version you're running. Steamodded by itself should be fully consistent with negative editions - if you have grounds to suspect this isn't the case and not the fault of one of the other mods you're using, I'm more than happy to look into that
@shy seal grounds is only reddit threads describing the same issue resolved by removing steammodded, but jokerdisplay and blueprint are mods I want to use that seem to depend on it.
people in the modding gen channel seem to think saturn is not updated for ages and likely conflicts with an update i recently made from a ~6mo old smods version, problem started then.
smod and saturn are both updated yesterday

mkay I had a look and it seems true that Saturn is just horribly unmaintained to the point that incompatibilities are inevitable. at this point you just shouldn't use it and opt for better maintained QoL mods such as overflow and handy

this is just an issue with how cryptid formats its messages caused by latest steamodded
any of these messages will cause a crash, so you can either get the previous release of cryptid and steamodded or try to not use jokers that use any of these

There's a hand called AK-47, which requires playing ace, king, 4 and 7.
But when i try to play it it counts as a different hand.

I didn't have four fingers and it wasn't a flush
It's probably because the other hand is made when the sum of the four cards you use is the square of a number.
The mod counts the ace as 1

Hello, I've recently made my own set of custom face card textures and implemented them into the game by modifying the .exe with 7zip. Everything seems to by working quite well, except for the fact all the playing cards have sort of a weird outline on their textures as opposed to the original ones. Anyone know what the issue might be here?

Some art programs have this wierd thing where they make all transparent pizels black if you export

As the colour of transparent pixels will bleed into nearby pixels

Okay so, I decided to upscale them from x1 to x2 using Gimp instead of Krita and it's still somewhat there but not quite as bad??
hey sorry im new to playing with mods and ive been able to install steamodded, cryptid and talisman dependency. i can load and open the game with cryptid OR talisman, but when i have both installed, the game will crash on launch. all the versions are the most current and compatible ones, i even tried going back to earlier versions for all of them and it didnt seem to help, ive looked and have no idea what is causing the crash, could anyone help? thank you all very much :))))))
Use the Pipette tool around the letter to check if there's any color set to the pixel, even if it is invisible.

For all you know, the pixel may be colored, but fully transparent or something.

In essence, I was setting up the modloader for a friend, but we began experiencing crashes about some entry being nil within pairs(), I checked in my localisation file and I found it to be some tutorial string, I'm not sure why it doesn't work for him albeit it working fine for me
there's probably some files in the save folder that don't belong there
Could it be a corrupted save?
whenever there's localization data in the save folder (appdata/Balatro), the game will prefer it over the ones stored inside the game
if that file is from a mod, it will be incomplete and cause vanilla localization strings to go missing
So should I ask him to check his localisation files?
he should check if there's a localization folder directly in the game's save folder
if so, deleting it should fix it

Clearly he did something critically wrong, but I have no words to explain it to him really
all that should be there is
- the 1,2,3 profile folders
- config and Mods
- settings.jkr and steam_autocloud.vdf
- anything with BMM in its name, although those would probably regenerate
everything else can and should be deleted
and tell him that any mod files must be INSIDE the mods folder and never outside
the only critical part is that localization folder though

if you just downloaded it then it has been updated to the latest version released just now, which multiplayer usually doesn't like
the warning is just there to tell you to restart a run if you update steamodded however and it's mostly harmless

hello! ive been starting to learn how to mod balatro recently, and ive added a custom enhancement, and whenever i try to apply it to a card with a joker the game crashes with the error message below. the issue doesnt occur if i make the joker create glass, does anyone know why?

well first of all try not using a random dev version from 5 weeks ago and switch to the latest release of smods
like the crash screen has been telling you
check if blindside is up to date, too
if it still doesn't work after that, it's possible that it's a bug with blindside and you should ask its dev

you should tell the mod creator to fix thaty but for now you should be good if you just turn big ante off

smods fixed a bug that was allowing mods to type their dependencies wrong. now if they do that this happens
you can fix it for yourself by going into the mod's metadata json file and changing 1.* to 1.*~
though you should also bring it to the mod dev's attention

so been following the lovely guide for installing on Linux (Mint) and things seem to be failing. Also following steammodded instructions to put mods in another folder, mods are in both folders
When running the command (I did replace the path to Balatro with the real one, before it said the same message but also that "can't cd" over there) I get this

the logic error here is particularly stupid
what was mostly a strict << check was given as the <= implementation, and << was given as <= and not ==, not sure how I came up with that

hi yall! new to balatro modding, though ive got a lil experience with lua- i'm trying to make a joker similar to midas mask, where instead of turning face cards to gold, i wanna turn them to stone. i've practically copied the code for midas mask w/ vanillaremade and it's working fine, but i'm having a visual issue where the cards go completely blank before turning to stone (vid attached). is there any way to stop that from happening?

so are jokerforge mods currently just not working? my game opens just fine and all of my mods work but as soon as i put my extracted mod into the mods folder i cannot get to the title screen...

you definitely did not remove all major mods
anyway try taking out HQ shaders? if that doesn't fix it, a good way i recommend figuring out which mod is causing a crash is to remove/re-add half of the mods at a time
Hey Team! what is causing my consumable slots to go insane? my perkeo hasnt copied this much over the whole run? i assume its due to the condensing of the negatives right?
what consumable stacking mod are you using? if it's not overflow, try switching to that instead

i first started modding with cryptid and set the gameset to modest, then many mods later i reset my profile so that i could change my gameset, and ever since then i have recieved this crash report when opening the game

remove .lovelyignore from the items folder in cryptid

I'm not on the Cryptid server so I can't see if there's any bug reports for it with new smods, but seems there aren't any reports of it on the Entropy server. I'd also check if the issue is still there if you use only Cryptid and no other mods, and same for Entropy, because conflicts from big mod lists can definitely cause crashes.
Let's hope I'm just missing something obvious that someone else spots, though
Way you tend to normally figure that out is by disabling half your mod list to see if the crash still happens, and repeating that until you can nail it down. It helps that you already know cryptid and entropy are an issue, so you can leave those on
I'd check the oldest mods first, however. Those are the likeliest offenders, usually, due to them using older codebases, and conflicts with them are less known because often they get played less in more recent modlists

I just downloaded BMM but I'm having an issue where certain mods aren't showing up. I was trying to download SylviBlossom's Banner mod but when I search it in the mod manager (and when I search some other mods on the Wiki) it doesn't show up at all. Does anyone know why this is?

Spectrallib and Talisman do not play nice together. Whoever's in charge of either of these mods, could you possibly fix them so that they work with each other?

does recovering a save file count as modding support because my save file seems to be a merge of the new one and the old one but balatro keeps booting the one from 3.25 save hours ago
i see in my save nacho tong which was recent but for some reason it won't let me do shit with it
its saved my unlocks but slapped me back on green deck endless it seems
idk if opening this would break the game since it's a past game on a future save idk if that was supposed to happen
