balatro keeps crashing at the final loading mods step. im using quite a big modpack and was expecting to have to remove some mods but i cant even get to the step where it gives me a logfile and tells me why its crashing.

you've got a couple of different mods here that work best as standalone experiences anyway (hot potato, qualatro, yahimod, arguably cryptid)

it appears hot potato does not play well with a bunch of other mods. my guess is there is a limit to what you can add and hot potato pushes you past that limit
hot potato does not play well with other mods because it is essentially a modpack on its own lmao
yeaaaaaaaahhh. that was my fear because hot potato is amazignly overwhelming as is so i was hoping to keep it. but if i turn it off with the full modpack i atleast get a crash log which i can debug myself

cryptid does this on the latest smods release, you would need to use the dev version of smods or downgrade both smods and cryptid

so Malverk is trying to set the sprites to a non-existant atlas (as of yesterday)

Not having any crashes or anything; just trouble using the Brainstorm mod. I just... can't figure out how to use it. The keybinds work, but how do I select which filters I want? The guide on the mod page also mentions files I can't find anywhere, like immolate.hpp

download smods from the latest release (should be linked in the big sidebar on the right), not the green code button
i wonder if pokermon just force-crashes on development versions of smods or if there's genuinely a problem between it and the upcoming smods version
Idk, when I downloaded it, it was a pokermon main folder, and inside was another pokermon main folder, and then the details?
oh yea if you tweaked that as well then that was the cause of the crash
I might have extracted the mod into itself, which is why it was stoopid?
yea that's why it crashed, shouldn't be any particular issues with using the dev version of smods but it can have unfinished features in it at times
When I specified the destination to be my regular mod folder, then it worked

because if you are saying that you think an smods update would fix the issue I'm assuming that you have some idea that it is an actual smods issue and not something from cryptid or entropy
I want to pinpoint where the issue is
if the performance issues were in smods, then they would remain an issue if you had only smods installed
(that question is also a cue to test without them enabled)

I've experienced it personally with cryptid, but also ortalab, and maybe once on pokermon (hard to say if pokermon wasn't totally my fault.)
ah can you send whatever the latest log in Mods/lovely/log is, i want to check something about the slow down
I am 99% certain that you haven't had random nil crashes caused by smods with ortalab
this is from my steam deck. notsure if that matters.
i literally couldnt get through one run on ortalab without crashing, when it was the only mod running ontop of that.

well if you're having that many patches missing their target I'm not surprised you have a load of crashes

New to modding but using the mod manager and grabbing this regirock (Makes all cards act as stone cards) turns all cards white. Who do I need to reach out to? wanna make sure this is on someones radar if they arent aware.

if it's pokermon the devs are not really around here that much and have their own discord. i assume most pokemon mod devs are there too
also if it's that card that you showed then you can just look at the badge it has to tell which mod it's from

pretty basic ask, whats the mod that people use to drag click the cards like a swipe type of thing? ive looked for it a bit and havent been able to find it.
not sure if any of these are particularly relevant to the exact crash you're getting, but one of them is bound to help
- steamodded is outdated
- talisman is outdated, but you shouldn't even need it in the first place
- you should use Overflow instead of Incantation
- jen's library is unmaintained and old and will probably cause issues. you shouldn't use it at all anymore

there used to be a folder, which was autogenerated. inside, there should be mods folder for mods. i wiped the whole thing.
so far i have done the following: reinstalled lovely, steammodded multiple times, verified integrity of gamefiles multiple times, restarted my computer multiple times

Hello! quick question: while using the Brainstorm mod, when I do Ctrl+A to reroll for a soul card, I get this error. Has anybody else had the same error? The rolls works, but sometimes I get no arcana packs to find a soul card in it, sometimes it brings me a spectral card on the shop.

lovely logs aren't all that useful 99% of the time, theyre just the crashlog but with minor extra details
the crashlog you get when you crash is the main important thing

Turns out it was just something up with that particular run, all i had to do was delete the save.jkr file and it was fine lmao

-remove content mods one at a time until it stops shitting itself

The bar before the menu and once it finishes it crashes
so crash on startup (after initialization)

hi - I am trying to use an old version of steamodded on macos because I am trying to use an old mod that needs that particular version (1.0.0-beta-1016c)
I have tried multiple versions of lovely, but no matter what I do, I cannot get steamodded to load
I had the same problem when I was trying to use the old versions of steamodded and that mod on Balatro Mod Manager - steamodded would not load
For whatever reason, old versions of steamodded just don't seem to work on my system
Anyone have any advice on how I could make it work?

back them up somewhere else - you can find your saves at %appdata%/Balatro
they are the 1, 2 and 3 (or whatever you named them) folders

So im having an issue with Balatro. I got a laptop for school so im just porting over some of the visual mods I have that just add some Pokemon card types and some Hollow Knight card types. Trying to run balatro with just Lovely and steammodded, and lovely alone works, but when I try with steammodded in the appdata folder the game does not boot
is there a crash log or...
does it just close instantly when booting balatro up
It doesn't crash per say it just holds on a black screen and doesn't boot (unless thats what you mean)

this looks like some mod incompatibility rather than a banner problem. there are also some combinations like better mouse and gamepad + handy that dont make sense
also you should disable bmm-compat
There are a few version though, I imagine you have the wrong one which will break a lot of newer mods

Currently yes. But it happened to me that without it, the same thing happened
bmm installs a mod to check compatibility or something and that causes lag
even if you launch it without it
i would recommend going to the bmm options and removing that

It's like when I play a hand it's both playing it and adding invisible copies of all of those cards to the discard at the same time then after the round to the deck as a whole
Just switched it over to only running cryptid and talisman and it's working just fine so it's definitely something with that mod
