mf is right in that a lot of what was added was added because it was a "cool idea" and with the nature of the suggestion method people would try and "1-up" other designs to get theirs picked, so there's a lot of stuff there that is just "lol number go brrrrr" or is so strong in it's effect that it nullifies having anything else - as cryptid was the first "big" mod and became the defacto for getting people into the community, it holds a lot of resentment from other devs who have had their mods almost ignored because they are always either played alongside, or compared to cryptid, and if you try and create something that is more vanilla balanced it doesn't get the same draw because you don't get all the crazy big scores
