Too late for that sorta deal. The community has standardized around lovely and smods. It would require a huge pivot and would likely not be totally adhered to. Would help with content distribution. Best case scenario I would need to distribute lovely on Steam (Like DFHack) but it still causes issues.

personally, i think the reason to try to not fall for that mindset is not that there's anything wrong with thinking that people are 'better' than you at something, or to be motivated by other people putting out good content. But yeah, for sure, competition is antithetical to art. If it's a competition, you're motivated to not help other people make their thing better, or share new things you've learned. While the entire modding community here is build on having open source mods, and people sending each other code snippets, and writing APIs, packages, and guides to help you make something better.
