in terms of qol mods, jokerdisplay is quite nice but some modded content might not interact with it properly (they can coexist, the modded jokers just won't actually display anything)
handy is good, lets you map keyboard shortcuts, click & drag to select multiple cards at once, and increase the animation speed far beyond 4x if you're playing with some cryptid retrigger shenanigans
if you're ever in a situation where you have a ton of consumables being copied, overflow will clean that up for you. same goes for tags with BetterTags
DebugPlus lets you do a bunch of debug stuff if you just want to play with some specific content without going through a real run. you can autowin blinds, spawn content at will, etc

How do those typically work by the way? The Balatro song is more or less infinite and merges into itself when you switch between the gameplay and the shop and all

But all of the Balatro covers I've seen have like dedicated intros and endings and stuff.

cryptid - use the edition deck to get every card as a negative, so you never have to worry about slots
and with cardsleeves i think its in cryptid but the infinite sleeve or wtvr, allows you to select any amount of cards at once

I've got a mod idea but I'm not sure if I've thought it through enough
Odd Deck and Even Deck
Each deck only has Odd or Even cards respectively
2 copies of each card
That's 2 40 card decks, just like abandoned deck, but with 0 Straight synergy, but it has 8 of each rank in the deck, which means 5oak is really easy out the gate, and flush 5 can be done with minimal fixing

Alternately I reduce the count of each card based on their synergy jokers (for example, only 1 copy of each 2 and Ace, since they have 4 jokers that they work with as a rank)

Which would solve the issue of building for 5oak because if you're building for that then you're likely building against joker power and need the power in your hand played (les Fibonacci for mult, less Wee for chips, etc) but also means the deck is even smaller and therefore easier to fix

and the typical "best" 5oak suits being multiple Strengths away on both decks, but inherently buffing cards like Even Steven, Odd Todd, ride the bus, etc which don't always get a lot of powerful use, but can be as good as the suit-themed jokers when used in these decks
