Some mods, such as Lucky Rabbit, have mechanics that require selecting jokers. However, when playing with a controller instead of mouse and keyboard it seems to be impossible to select jokers; you can highlight them but not select them.

If anyone else has this problem, one solution I just managed to figure out is using Steam Input to map mouse controls to the controller.
You have to do whatever requires joker selection entirely with the mouse, as any controller input will deselect the joker, but it otherwise works.
