Oh, no worries, that's just how it feels to read any file loading related code, haha. Makes it obvious why people are intimidated by it, but the main thing to realize is that you just have to accept some of the blackboxing that love2d, lua and smods do so you don't have to bother with the details, unless you're keen on having very deep understanding of how game development works, but that's propably overkill

@buoyant kestrel I just rembered that I had an idea for an enhancement based on SCP-INTEGER; I'm not sure what you'd get from the enhancement, but basically the enhancement "absorbs" and "punishes" other cards played with it (scoring or otherwise) - this might be like removing every aspect of the punished card - suit, rank, modifiers

Alongside this is a poker hand that, at minimum, requires one card with this enhancement, and all other cards count toward it; this enhancement keeps its suit and rank, but it's obfuscated and requires context clues like suit-specific Jokers to re-deduce
