Mmmm you gotta be careful with Cryptid. It tends to overpower the more Vanilla-ish mods
UNIK, Val-Karri, and Entropy are more Cryptid-oriented.

Cryptid is pretty fun with some other mods, but yeah, in most cases, instead of more cases, you just have more filler content while you fish for the stuff that's on a power level worth using with Cryptid. Cryptid kinda overpowers the content of a lot of other mods

Hello everyone, I'm running into a crash issue with the Pokermon mods and was hoping someone could help.
I was using the base Pokermon mod (v3.5.0) by itself, and it worked perfectly.
Today, I installed Pokermon Plus (v1.0.3) by Sonfive. Now, the game crashes when I go into the mod's Pokedex/settings menu and right-click on any of the Pokémon to view them.
This is the main error from the crash log:
card.lua:281: attempt to index local 'center' (a nil value)

I'm not sure the issue you're running into is due to the API. Cryptlib would have the exact same issue. You're just running into issues with your syntax, but you'll get better at writing that as long as you keep writing more code

The first thing that comes to mind is updating the values when computing a tooltip 
The function is called every frame, but it doesn't run every frame, as it checks the new value against the existing one and stops if they're the same
it would cause a feedback loop to where it will always lead to 0 or -nan
I guess it's feasible to add a context for that, yeah

I must've missed what you were trying to get at, then
If you update the values before calculation (and maybe before showing tooltips) the modified object is correct
If you’re troubled by an object that used to be changed but isn’t you can handle it with a cache
And paying attention to when the modified object is different from the cached one
I can tell you with pretty high confidence that it is not, for the purposes of correctly reflecting the tooltip
I’ll say maybe you want the tooltip to be more accurate than Balatro tooltips
If you start hovering over a Joker and it updates (by triggering) the tooltip doesn’t update
If that’s what you have in mind
You're imagining this to be happening after playing a hand, but the video is just in a menu when dragging a joker around

If you’re not using Jokers then updating their values is pointless
i also do plan to make legendary jokers too, though their card bg would be heavily inspired by the legendary jokers of all in jest

I can tell you with absolute full confidence that people will assume it's bugged if the values don't update in a state where the player has control, and I would also absolutely see that as QoL. But in this case, as well, Popeye doesn't know tooltips are being shown. I don't see how it'd update its targeting effect to account for that. The values aren't misaligned in the same way that they are during calculations, where the Joker values and display values don't match. In this case, the effect isn't applied yet, so updating the UI values wouldn't impact anything. It's Popeye that needs to know there's a change and actually recalculate the application of its effect

the vanilla wiki has all of the jokers base and negative forms but for some reason I don’t think anyone has replicated the negative shader here yet. The community assets thread has the other three implemented on Shadertoy but the way negative messes with colors is weird
