Mayhem is undoubtedly a buggy mod, however if you do things the right way there shouldn't be many issues.

1. Follow the instructions
   If you haven't noticed, the place you downloaded Mayhem from has some installation notices in the README. Follow them.
2. SMODS
   Mayhem assumes you know how to set up lovely and Steamodded or you already have them. If you don't, search them up and check their respective installation tutorials
3. Dependencies
   Mayhem has 2 dependencies other than SMODS. If you don't have those mods, Mayhem will not run. Links to their respective pages are once again on the README
4. Conflicts
   Mayhem conflicts some mods. They're listed in the installation instructions
