The exact order isn't something I know by heart, but in setting up counters, I've come to accept that adding very fundamental objecttypes just means you're going to have to test to see if specific behaviour happens, and then figure out why it's not happening
The main thing is that if you're extending Moveable, nothing will be ran automatically. Basically every functionality you add will need to be patched or hooked into another function so it runs
Either way, a potential idea brews off of the playing card graveyard.

It's not that it's difficult, it's just that there's no proper documentation so unless you're already very, very familiar with how SMODS sets things up, you're going to be learning how to set up a lot of basic functionality to properly work

The roguelike nature of the game also makes progression as the focus of a modpack a different ask. But I do think a modpack is the better place for mods to explore progression vs mods
the main way you can do progression in a balatro modpack is adding 5 trillion mods that require you to unlock things

I'm sure there's more interesting takes on it than that
Even if they'd be more complicated
And I'd need to lock in a specific version of every mod involved because I'm sure there'll be future updates that would make my life hell
I think the main issue you're running into is just that most mods add plenty of content so a modpack focused on progression is just going to involve getting annoyed with having to fish for specific requirements, unless they're quite generic, haha
unless youre gonna do metaprogression i dont really see another way
and i think metaprogression is worse than having to endure actually unlocking things
So by the time it comes out the mods involved will be outdated
I think there's actually multiple mods atm going towards their development endgame, so timing-wise that works out, haha
I mean, there's entire schism in the roguelike community based on the fact that a lot of people are into meta progression in their roguelikes, so there's definitely space for it
The idea for the progression is
Meet requirement -> node becomes unlockable -> click node to unlock its joker/consumable/deck/mechanic
I think there's definitely some fun space to mess with there
modpack that gradually locks things
You cannot escape
I'd also need to find a solution to block out certain blinds until certain progression has been made, because at the start with only the low power jokers and consumables it becomes unbearable
Probably also worth considering that the experience will really start changing once the joker pool becomes more and more diluted

something I've been wanting to mess with for ages now and keep postponing is a way to 'curate' content for modpacks/big mods so that you can choose at run start to not include a specific suite of content from Balatro Goes Kino, for example, or opt to only use jokers that interact with mechanic X from that mod, while playing with More Fluff. Or allow you to have a shareable content set for your 10+ mod modpack focused on Cryptid that only includes content from those other mods that interacts with Cryptid in fun ways.
I think there's an interesting way to convert the basis of that idea into something that works as a progression system 🤔

but idk if i should make it cuz i know not everyone's gonna be comfortable with that 🤔
it doesn't display any personal information just like the amount of games you have so its probably fine just like not a balanced joker but funny
