So if you want to make a background for it just do this
Expand the canvas to be twice whatever its current width is. Then put the background in next to it. Think of the background as being a separate canvas that's next to it with the same dimensions as your original one before you widened it. Then you'll just set up pos and soul_pos and your art should animate overtop of the background with the drop shadow and everything
