here's a fun fact for you about the boiler

its visuals are actually telling you which it's buffing. if it's pointing to the left, it's buffing to the left, and same for the right. but if it's pointing up, it's considered inactive.

here's the fun catch. if the boiler is shuffled or moved away from its origin position, it resets to its up position. it might be slightly more difficult to manage because of that fact.

i even had to add a custom context for when jokers are moved around for it to work lol

But I wouldn't worry too much about amber acorn interacting with it, that's just what that blind does. In my mod, the Popeye joker boosts the values of the joker to the right by 100% and AA hurts builds for that but it only kills you outright if you have an insane build, haha.

I think there's the risk of hands being too impactful vs steps, meaning you'll be doing awkward balancing dances to try and have effects that affect it without offering the player too many hands

Especially in Balatro, where the goal isn't to use your hands as a resource to explore but to hoard, with the ideal situation being you using only 1 hand to beat the blind. Modded balatro especially tends to be makes this problem a bit worse, as in my experience even the mods that care the most about balancing still make one shot builds the most viable path
