if you're programming, those issues tend to be a lot easier to spot and solve if your IDE colour matches the ends and the brackets!

it has its own index, that uses the github repos to update mods
so mods need to be made available on the bmm with consent of the mod dev, but a lot of the bigger ones are on there

The JimboCarrot fork is a version of the mod that's maintained now that Firch is inactive. If it's the same crash, I suspect you didn't install it properly
