xchips is definitely not vanilla, agree. I know people say it's the same as +mult, but the ways in which they differ is so annoyingly minute that it's not a great mechanic for vanilla. I'm wondering if I'd rip out the abduction jokers from Kino and changed the art to match the vanilla style, whether it's too far out there as a mechanic, or whether there is a way to make that fit in a mod like paperback for example. But also, I don't much care for what vanilla is. Part of what makes it a strange conversation is that balatro doesn't get updates, so you get no new information to test ' vibe-based vanilla-ness' with.

I thought I was crazy noticing super small differences with animations but kinda confirmed it. Red seal steel kings I noticed seem to wiggle like a joker triggering, rather than push in like a held in hand card is supposed to, and the animations are a lot less smooth.
