Vanilla and chocolate are super popular, so making those do things that are already really probable in those packs as a guarantee makes sense.
Strawberry is less sought after so making it do something rarer makes more sense.

I'm new to modding balatro, and I just installed lovely/steamodded today, and I'm playing through on a new profile just to see if everything's working fine. It seems like mult cards (those generated by Empress) aren't working. They still score chips, but do not increase mult by +4 anymore.
Is that something that either of those mods can break, even if by accident?

All the mods you want to use need to be in the Mods folder, not the lovely folder. Don't put mods in the lovely folder.

You can delete the lovely folder whenever you see it if you don't have anything in it. It's not important. And deleting it keeps you from putting mods in it. It'll come back because lovely dumps every time it launches to inject mods.

they start with back sides, but you can merge another card into that back side
(this is done by selecting the card you want to merge, and the card you want to merge into)
for double-sided playing cards, the front side scores
and for Jokers, the front side's effects trigger
(unless you get the voucher that makes both trigger)
