but from what I would assume (because i like to do that)
The game keeps track of your total or (career) stats in a different directory than balatro (pretty sure it's in like %appdata%) And your "career" discards count is outside of it's possible value range

but I don't know shit so don't take that as a professional diagnosis

Was afraid of that. Github looks sparse too. I mean, if it were a conflict issue, you'd figure it 100% just craps out but it'll go a day or so working perfectly, lulling me into a false sense of security, then BLAM, full crash mode. And this is 100 with no changes, adjustments, etc. other than playing a few more runs. (so not tampering with the files beyond tallying stats.)

It booggles the mind.

i just started trying mods for balatro and i installed handybalatro and saturn with no issue, but i also tried to install brainstorm which just isnt showing up at all in game.

im on windows

Did you check under settings to see if any changes were made? I missed this at first and, thinking it was in the usual mod list spot, thought it didn't take but it was there just in it's own, proper spot.

Make sure the folder for Brainstorm is named exactly "Brainstorm". And Brainstorm settings are in the vanilla settings menu, not SMODS' mod config menu

This is because an older version of Talisman has made your save file unreadable by vanilla Balatro. Try installing the latest version of Talisman 2.1.0 from here: https://github.com/MathIsFun0/Talisman/releases

Or deleting your save folder at %AppData%/Balatro/1

That shouldn't have been recreated by a reset, might still be Steam cloud shenanigans. Try deleting the whole %AppData%/Balatro folder, then running Balatro.exe directly from C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Balatro/

If not that's the problem, when trying to download Cryptid it has 3 folders, one has called Steamodded. Though it's "fine" to use theirs, you'll need to delete your steamodded (which will be called smods depending if you renamed it) so it won't conflict with each other.

yeah, i think it's something that playing with it will reveal how strong it is, in the end. Rental's a big cost, but this makes it a strong build around. If you have a good economy joker, the synergy'll get you very high up in chips quite quickly. And if it's high enough, on lower stakes the negative money doesn't really matter much

I like the idea of other jokers being viable enough late game. Like late game getting 50 total chips added to a joker a round isn't gonna do much for you, but if you can manipulate that to be 200 a round, then you might actually have a use for it long term.

Most +chips jokers lack that kind of scaling capability.

Yeah, that's true. While ante 8 builds are generally varied, endless builds aren't that varied. I think the main issue with flat scaling for longevity is that flat scaling builds quickly and tops out quickly once the endless scaling starts really gearing up. +50 chips in the first few antes is a huge bump, but +400 chips in ante 12 might not even make a difference.

If you scale too early, and only the scaling is conditional, not the triggering, high chip jokers can become an almost undeniable early pick-up, I've found
