recurring bug where i can't select or skip packs

hey all
i just got into balatro modding (im new to modding and lua i do programming in other stuff) and i'm trying to figure out why my joker wont appear in the collection in the game. I am basing myself off of the example jokers mod from smods example mods and i made a joker using that mod as a basis. i can check additions in the mod list and it appears fine but it doesnt appear in the collection, however if i copy my code for the joker in the original vanilla jokers mod it appears fine
anyone have any idea what it could be?

I noticed that steam no longer keeps track of them anymore

unfortunately lovely gets flagged a lot by antivirus, but rest assured it's false flags
it's open source, so you can build it yourself if you don't trust
just disable your antivirus or make an exception for the balatro folder

maybe kind of a dumb question but like, if I wanted to still have the mods but just the vanilla experience, would I just disable all the mods and like, switch to my default save profile and reenable steam achievements if I wanted to play vanilla without uninstalling the modloader?

you can also remove or rename lovely's version.dll to disable it completely

Similar to what the brainstorm mod does with auto reset for the soul card.

if you're using cryptid's release version, you should use the steamodded that comes with it
you can grab cryptid off the main branch on github in which case the old-calc version is fine, but release cryptid has been broken with the last 2 weeks of steamodded updates

I think I've been playing Balatro too much
I've been getting dreams of custom Balatro mods that currently don't exist and I yearn for them so badly. Some of them are batshit insane like one that adds a single new Joker: "JIMBUG" - 2000x Mult, but has a 1/100 chance to BSOD the computer (or just crash the game if chosen) like those BSOD on death mods for games.
What's the sleeve mod called?

is there a way to backup my vanilla save file before i boot up modded?
also, will there be any issues with cloud saving if i play vanilla on a different device
you should just use a different in-game profile for modded
(change profile before installing the mods)
you can backup your saves by copying the numbered save folders in Balatro's appdata to somewhere safe as well, but you should be good when using different profiles

no that's fine, lovely doesn't change anything by itself
any number of mods can be disabled through the modloader ui at any time, so you just disable them when on a specific profile

your talisman and cryptid folders are nested inside another folder
make sure they're directly in your mods folder with no other single folder inside

hello, hello hello- friend of mine gifted balatro to me not too long ago and after having unlocked more than half of the decks and playing around i kind of want to dive into modding since i've got some ideas for jokers that i want to make a reality
i'm not exactly new to modding(i've had experience tinkering with other games over periods of time), i know that this uses lua and i'm sure there's tools essential to working on setting up conditions, enabling triggers and more, so i'm ready to soak this up for all of a few months and probably forget about it once i'm finished lmao
i guess my first question is where to start
also looking for the consumable stacking mod
i started modding like 2 days into having the game (you can tell im addicted, im kinda new to modding so heres just how i started)
Look at Steamodded's wiki for more specific stuff
There's a lot it can do so you could even expand into poker hands, decks, etc. if you'd like
I personally started with the Steamodded example mods, though they dont have those on the latest releases (you should be using old-calc anyways)

- Antipode: Spectral card. Upon use, it inverts the state of a Joker that has Mult properties. (For example, a card that says '+4 Mult when hand has a Pair' is now '×4 Mult when hand has a Pair'.)
- Jester: Joker alternative to Antipode. Functions like Blueprint but will change the Mult state of the Joker next to it.
- Makes Me Stranger: Based on Heath Ledger's portrayal of Joker in the Nolan Trilogy. Has base ×Mult depending on how many Jokers are in the slots(×5 for 5/5, for example), and will destroy one random Joker for every defeated Boss Blind to increase its own Mult potential. (If it has a base layer of ×1, destroying another will increase the base to ×2, meaning it becomes ×10 if 5 Jokers are equipped)
Your Dear Papa: Based on Arkham/Jester of Devil May Cry 3. Increases Joker and Consumable slots by 1, but selling will give you a Spectral and Tarot card.
And That One's Still Green: Voucher. When redeemed on an Ante before the Boss Blind, it will add a specialised Joker to the shop(or slots) that tries to match the difficulty of the Boss Blind itself. Example: Ante 1 = Kaioken Joker, Ante 6 = Super Saiyan Blue Joker```

If you havbe DebugPlus you can hold tab to get the debug menu then press win this run to get the you win screen and press endless

Yes it is. Luckily for me it just worked and I didn't have to debug any C++. (Just worked is very misleading but the only things I had to change were in the Lua code)

ok so i have discovered the main issue first of all none of the cards are being scored and second of all if i play a card and i have a joker it crashes my game as long as i play without jokers i can play but the second i pick one up and place a card my game crashes

Hey does anyone know what balatro crashes to easily with the cryptid mod? It's literally just that and Talisman that I have downloaded, and some decks straight up crash the game as do some hands, regardless of build or ante
can you share a crash report?
normally cryptid only crashes when you get too silly and cause a timeout crash

well, i use this template i made using a tool names Libresprite - which is a free, open-source pixel art software. I then use this color layout to do the sprites.
NOTE: the template does not have a joker outline! it just has the text

well, i have balatro with powershell, and i just put some mods to my balatro game, and play, but recently i have aproblem with, first the balatro plus, i can't discard because of something, it has an error and i don't get it, and second another error in middle of my game that i use a full with three aces and two queens one with a blue sticker and it has an error when i win the blind boss, it's weird

I got a question for all the cool people that help others. I have downloaded some mods, specifically the More Fluff mod, and I run the game with Steamodded all set up and everything, yet when I look into the mods section in the game it shows that nothing is activated. anyone know how to help?
does it show a mods button or not
if not, make sure your antivirus didn't remove lovely; if lovely is still there, make sure you followed the install instructions of lovely and steamodded correctly. If there is a mods button, it could be an issue with More Fluff being too old
Steamodded's most recent update breaks some mods, but it shouldn't prevent any from showing up, unless the mod was already too old to work properly or the creator set it up to not work. But the latter should be displayed in-game, after clicking on the mods button and seeing the mod display a warning, IIRC

I followed the instructions to a T (Windows 11, the only difference is that the directory is Appdata/Roaming rather than just AppData)
Balatro with lovely starts, i got old-calc in there with card sauce, and the games just... hangs on startup and crashes

Apparently, on the lovely logs it says that "patches.47.?.match_indent" from my mod loader was an "unknown key" and it was ignored. What does that mean?
The rest said that the patches were applied, but it just stops at "engine/text.lua" and the game never loads.
