CodexArcanum is a balatro mod (see the link) that was made a long long time ago.
It had to implement some stuff itself that later got put into steamodded, so it can break other mods that rely on the steamodded stuff after codex arcanum gets loaded and overwrites it

I wonder if a modloader based on the ACE exploit would be cool. You could probably copy all the code and make your own “lovely patches” before loading it
And then just save the modloader in settings.jkr or something
I'm not 100% sure how that would work but my initial assumption is "eh", but that's because lovely patches require native code access, which would be harder from ACE
An ACE modloader would work totally fine though, it'll just be contextually different
ACE runs pretty early (shortly after when Game:start_up is called iirc), so you could probably have it reload all the files with pseudo-lovely patches before starting up proper
I wonder if dynamically reloading the game's source at runtime would cause any issues with the love2d native backend
maybe since you’d have to reset all the love functions
I could see this being how Steamodded was installed if we found out about ACE much earlier
(back when Steamodded 0.1 was a thing)

the contrast makes it a bit tough to read the words but if that's what you're going for it works
yeah, i should probably make the text brighter, the contrast is a little efgh
could always just add a stroke/glow/inverse shadow so that it pops
may make it look more 3d than you're intending though
luckily dark on dark is easy enough to bring into a more reasonable contrast because the human eye is much better at reading on dark than light
I used mods to spawn in chicot without using the soul, and i havent discovered it on this file, now im stuck with a half-unlocked version, he counts for my collection but is stuck looking like this 😭

Saturn also implements Incantation's functions and is used by BU, Incantation is the original one which stacks consumables, Cartomancer disables rendering big decks and makes selecting Jokers easier

JellyMod is basically one of the first joker mods that existed, there was no joker API or any common ground to make these compatible, so even when it wasn't completely outdated, it was incompatible with any other mod that would add jokers

you'd be there forever trying to take out one mod at a time. you should bisect your mod list, i.e. take out half your mods at a time and remove whatever loaded successfully until you have a minimal collection of mods that crash

the cryptid mod discord. There's a mod called jen's alamanac which has most of these consumables. They put out a modpack with a few other content mods inside. Other than that I have familiar mod also installed
despite being a few rather large content mods I ahvent experienced many crashes unless im going deep into endless

anyone have any idea as to why lovely injector for steammodded may not be working?
i drag the file from github into the game directroy (version.dll) and through %appdata% i made a mod folder for steammodded.
the version.dll file gets deleted from the game directory for the game to even open. i've tried to uninstall and verify files to make sure everythings okay. im new to modding as a whole and balatro, but i just want some custom card skins :>

hey so i have a slight problem i downloaded cryptid and now when i play and i play a hand it doesnt have the plus chips animation, or plus mult they just go up and go down without showing how its scored, is there a way to fix this?

I'm running cryptid and my current run I've run away from whats reasonable by abusing Astral lucky red sealed rigged 2s. Which mod is the one that let's you turn animations off I left my computer to shower and 40 minutes later the hand was still going and wasn't half way done.
I love the mod but the game was never designed to handle this

the default (omeganum) is so high it uses a numeric representation that i don't actually know what it means

And I only know that because finally at ante 15 I found a wee joker
And it went from 0 to 18888 chips after the game was done calculating the hand

i think so far oil lamp and gameplay update might be the strongest cards around
the fact that oil lamp works on themselves, gameplay update works on themselves and they work on eachother might be the stupidest thing ive seen so far

I am using our lord and savior perkao to farm delete cards to get rid of everything but the jokers that will continue to benefit my current run.
Part of me wants to fill my deck with thousands of negative steel 2s but it does not really put a dent in the score at this point.
And Astral does not trigger from hand
yeah your deck kind of stops mattering after a certain point lol
I'm using DNA to continue to fill it just because I have a negative blue joker somewhere and my handsize is like 50. I'm going to keep pumping my selection size as well just because thats currently the bottle neck

So i've not got any external mods for balatro, but i'm using a custom skin with my pokemon mod, I'm wondering if there's a way to replace the names when the tarot cards show up, for example changing "Temperance" to "Pay Day" i know how to alter the art just don't know where i need to go for the text side of it
are you just modifying files in the executable, or have you installed lovely/steamodded?
i was changing files in the exe i don't know how to use lovely/steamodded
generally not recommended because it's gone when the game updates and also incompatible with other mods
you can change text by altering localization/en-us.lua, but i wouldn't do it that way
currently i've got a copy of the balatro folder copied to edit the textures but how i set it up as just an injection?

there's plenty examples for texture mods out there, one is included in steamodded's example files
for changing text, all you need to do is have a file at localization/en-us.lua within your mod and follow the format that the base game's language files provide

problem being is that it over writes the card base, so if its wildcard, steel card, mult card for example its very hard to tell, is there any way for these to have semi transpancy for example so that those are visable or do i just have to give up on using this mod? it truely is my favourite card visual mod

The suit pups are drawn on top of everything else, so to see the enhancement you’d need to have some opacity
for me, i had to replace the game files for these to work, i didnt see a way to do it in steammodded

You can try making the card faces more transparent, and settle for maybe something like Luna's enhancements, which might let you differentiate enough between types easier at a glance, but it would be a very makeshift solution.

It replaces the enhancements with different textures, like these three would now be your Bonus, Mult, and Wild cards. While not ideal, the textures should be easier to see than just different patterns on the base card back for enhancements.
