Guys I went to turn off all my mods and I accidentally backed out the menu before turning off all the mods, so the game restarted and now it won't open because it crashes on launch
go into your mods folder and make a file called .lovelyignore in the top folder of any mod that doesn't already have it (other than steamodded)
the file doesn't need anything in it

i never bothered testing it so idk whether it's only balatro's own achievements or it includes steam's achievements
alternately you can delete version.dll, verify game files, and play the game vanilla to get your achievements

ye I got the reshuffled mod that does mostly the same
but I got some Jokers and they aren't changed

then if you're only changing the image you only need to specify the new atlas and the joker's position within it, plus soul position if either it was a legendary or you want to give it that double layer effect
(anything you don't specify remains as it was)
(you of course will also want to create and register that new atlas)
Or use Malverk which will do it all cleanly for you 😉

it crashes after the calculations are already done
not a lua engine crash but an actual game crash during the animation when it adds the cards back to the deck

So currently I'm mostly a top-down designer, so my instinct is to design an "Abbot and Costello" Joker if no one's done it before.

i think most devs would prefer a dedicated program for modding balatro than anything like workshop or nexus
Nexus is just a mod manager, and a place to organize mods
It doesn't do any actual modding work
workshop would be amazing
i've heard controversies but i've never used it
It's used most commonly for Skyrim and Fallout mods
most mods are impossible to make with workshop, mods change the game in a way where steam flags it as a virus

how do I install textures with the Malverk mod?
SCP-7363
SCP-7363 is a greenhouse with about 30 anomalous plants, the plants are recognized to be from the "pitcher plant" kind, but anonymously big, big enough to fit an entire person. (You probably can guess where it's going)
Evidence at the discovery site suggests a Dr.Martin of foundation personnel living at the site pre-discovery. There is no record of such person ever existing.
By studying the notes at the site, it's been discovered that Dr.Martin was experimenting with anomalous chemicals, and was looking for a plant-based substance that would result in retroactively erasing any evidence of a person's existence.
Multiple name tags of foundation personnel were found inside the plants, these do not match any personnel in the database, research ongoing
[Note from the research staff: "Can we get new testing equipment? I noticed that the ladder is very slippery, we don't want nobody falling in there"]
In short:
The plants remove people from existence, and also all evidence and memory of them ever existing

SCP-1527 is a church with a clocktower in a small town. The church, tower, and bell, are indestructible
Every day at 12:25 the bell rings once, when it does, a number of SCP-1527-A "Opal Shells" are created.
"Opal Shells" are crab-like creatures 3 meters wide and 2 meters tall, the creatures have no heads, and usually 4 limbs, but the creatures can create new limbs whenever. The creature's only goal is seemingly to escape the premises of the town.
The Opal Shells are to be destroyed on sight
In a barricaded room of the church there was found a note text to a dead cultist
(shortened version):
"All mortal artists need inspiration, and inspiration drives from emotions, and stones emotion of them all is terror. The bell maker sought inspiration in the divine, and created the bell that with each sound opened a passage to other worlds, such magnificent that some we could hardly comprehend. But the bell maker grown bored of awe, and started sending terrifying creatures from the "edge worlds" and got inspiration from the townsfolk terror of them, as a punishment, we banished the bell maker into the very worlds he was so familiar with. Has anyone done reverse tarot cards yet?
For the enhancement/suit ones, you choose which ones you don't want to have it and every other card in the hand changes, strength shifts it down a number, and then for the money ones, i imagine they'd give money based on a cap and then subtract what you have? So R!Hermit would give $20 - your money.
Not sure about R!Temperance, maybe the difference between most expensive joker and least expensive joker?
R!Judgement...maybe takes away a random joker and gives double it's sell value? Or upgrades a Joker to one of a higher rarity.

Another reason why this community needs mod organization
Not all mods come pre-packaged and just dump their files on you. When a mod gives you more than 1 file, you need to create a new folder for them
I'm trying to get mods, And I've downloaded Lovely and Steammodded, but most of my mods are getting the issue:

I thought I did, but I'm just having a skill issue. I didn't want to download the entire repo because it included a bunch of gifs and text that just detailed what the mod did.
And you can't download individual folders, so I ended up downloading the files, not realizing they needed to be grouped in a folder.
I'm just complain when I'm frustrated. Downloading from Github is unintuitive, and information for Balatro mods is heavily obfuscated due to where they're located.

the game has a debug mode but you need a mod to enable it. DebugPlus is a mod that adds a bunch to the debug mode

Hey all, question for seasoned mod devs here: I'm restructuring my preview mod, and wondering if there is any benefit to using Steamodded if I don't use any of its features? I can load my mod solely through Lovely, and it looks like that might be the better approach (since Steamodded requires Lovely anyway, and I don't use Steamodded)
as someone who has made mods with and without Steamodded, there isn't a benefit
if you want to add configs and stuff through steamodded you can make a file that loads just do that, with all the core stuff in the mod working via lovely (I do this with Talisman)
As in, no benefit to using Steamodded yeah?

idk if the save editor has the functionality to add cards to runs, so i think you'd be better off enabling debug mode to add the card
