So yeah, because you had mods before, I presume you know where the mods folder goes in the appdata?
just replace the mods folder with the one from the latest release here
or put it there if it doesn't alreeady exist
just make sure you don't end up with it double nested like Mods/Mods/[the mods]

I made an exception in Windows Defender for the Balatro folder so my lovely doesn't ever get flagged
and only deleted the injected steamodded, not the actual mods folder

Yes, the alpha is the only thing that works with pretty much anything now. And the few currently developed mods that aren't running in 1 0 yet are migrating soon

Well I maintain a modpack of all the mods i personally play. It's full of added jokers and stuff, nothing that makes the game harder at least and molded jokers tends to be a fair bit more powerful than vanilla ones
At the very least you can use the list of included mods (with links) as a recommendation list

I keep seeing that steamodded is more popular and preferred to balamod but I haven't seen any concrete reasons as to why. Balamod's documentation is much nicer imo but is there any architectural reason that devs prefer steamodded?
It actually prints a warning message about that in the console. I'm sure it isn't bad to do it, but Steamodded tells you it's bad practice

The API is easier to use
Balamod has a pretty strong structure but unlike Steamodded it does not provide any API for you to use, meaning that you'd have to either A: use the api files for centers made by others (unless I've missed one they haven't been touched in months and can't guarantee they completely work) or B: write it yourself.

For example, in the section for Ankh, there is a G.E_MANAGER event that destroys all other jokers. However, I want to add an if statement where it only does that if spectral_level is 1.
The problem is that I have to indent everything that comes after it, and add an end after them, so I'm not sure how that's going to work.
you would have to add a patch before and a patch after
also Lua doesn't care about indenting, so that's not a big deal

hey folks, been having something weird happen, hoping someone might be able to help. i'm honestly not sure this is a mod issue at this point (see below), so i might kick this over to #1200105253559873707 but wanted to double-check here first
long story short, the game is refusing to launch. it gets as far as the window popping up for a split-second before immediately quitting out, no error message or crash report or anything
things that haven't worked:
- removing all mods
- verifying game files
- uninstalling, deleting /appdata/roaming/balatro, and reinstalling
- disabling antivirus and doing all the above
not sure what else to try at this point, any advice would be appreciated
this may be unrelated, but slay the spire (unmodded) is doing the exact same thing. no other games that i've found so far are doing it too but i'm checking my library
try to roll back the system or use a program that shows what happened at the machine level :\

preumably if they deleted the whole folder, their profile was included

Its the same version, I believe, but I dont think there is any risk to your files

i assume its this (paperback mod btw), but what formating to i follow?
Atlas must be rectangular tiling planes, with each rectangles dimensions specified in SMODS.Atlas
60x90 tiling, 20x100 tiling, etc, all are valid
it's customary to stick to the dimensions of standard balatro cards
i.e. 71x95 with 1 pixel of borders on each size for the 1x version, and a 2x version that's the same thing but scaled up

iirc the base sticker isn't stopped from rendering and uses a separate sprite center so unless you switch it out during injection and define a blank draw func in the sticker this'll happen.

hi! i was trying to install the cryptid mod, it made me go get the lovely injector so i followed the instructions, but when i opened the game it didn't give me the command prompt, not exactly sure what i did wrong, can anyone help me on this one?
windows defender (and other antiviruses) tend to remove lovely injector (version.dll) because it looks like a trojan
how might i stop that from happening?
also i looked and when i open balatro the version.dll file disappears so i assume thats this

Okay. I got the Cryptid mod and the Lovely injector (?). Now, I want to get a bunch of other mods back into the game, but the game keeps crashing. Here's a list:
Deck Creator, Jelly Mod, Mika's Mod Collection, Fusion Jokers, Dark Mode, Survival, and Deluxe Tarots.
All of these mods are made for an older version
One specifically is very broken (Deck Creator)
The rest might have problems with Talisman
More Speeds doesn't have a single problem!

make sure you're not putting the mods inside a Steamodded or lovely folder inside mods, they should go directly in Mods
