i think i know the cause of the crash
Cicero turns any nono adding chips, mults or retriggers joker to a negative, but the balanced deck of the cryptid makes anything could appear in stores
as Cicero tries to turn the shop items into negatives, that might cause some... incompatibilities, consuming way more memory of the intended as Cicero will likely try to add negative again and again and again
causing the game to crash in that way
someone could confirm that else? i tried 4 times and all 4 times that happened, then i got Cicero in another deck and nothing happened

hey, im a bit out of the loop cause i haven't really played since may, what's up with this steamodded update i've heard about? is it just that the api updated and broke all the mods?
i didnt know there was an update that broke the mods
but if theyre old mods then id imaging they dont work anymore unless the creators have fixed them
i have no idea if it was recent or not, it could've been at any point between may and now
1.0.0 broke old mods yeah, because API stuff got changed
1.0 was going to be a completely breaking update, it ended up being less so, but yeah some mods got the short straw
Some more popular mod devs updated their mods to work on 1.0.0

The fusion jokers mod is so damn cool! is there any more mods like this that enhance the vanilla game? I don't like playing with stuff that massively breaks the game/ strays to far from the games original vision. Any recommendations would be much appreciated guys

I had to turn Real time protection off in windows security to install Lovely. I followed the steps to create an exclusion for Balatro, so now i can just re enable Real time Protection correct? Not familiar

That's normal, ignore it. Lovely is a code injector, which is the same as some kinds of viruses.

the instructions to install 0.98 or 1.0 arent very difficult overall but neither seems to do anything so im guessing my weird tinkering with my computer's file systems is to blame.

the steamodded mods menu includes checkboxes to disable, but all they actually do is create or remove that file

If you're just going QoL, you might want to grab the achievement enabler.
Other than that, I also use Trance, which swaps the palette Balatro uses, and, there is a mod called JokerDisplay which just shows info abut Jokers underneath the cards, like how much mult they give or chances for stuff like Bloodstone. Not really my thing, though.

Sdm0 just meant thetes a folder called 'lovely' that gets created in your mods folder, but you don't have to create it yourself
so i dont need to cut and paste the folder anywhere?
Just put version.dll in with the exe and if it still doesn't work try reverifying the game files with Steam

had a couple struggles with UI for this one, mainly figuring out how to sync the text input to the option cycle

but I think other mods might want that sort of config menu and can use it as a base

Then just make sure Steamodded is in your Mods directory in %appdata%/Balatro/Mods

If you’re running Galdur, it changes how stake progress is saved so it should work with changing mods around, it’s not been thoroughly tested though so if you experience any strangeness please let me know

Galdur just runs a load of custom stuff really, it tries to leave base game stuff alone. It just modifies the inject function for stakes to change how the sticker maps are added
