big hands tend to not discard all 5 to get the required hand they need

pair player has better odds of finding cards with desired enhancements, seals and editions (or are things the joker wants)

reason 2: pair players can hold more cards held in hand

gold cards payout $3 when round ends and held in hand
a pair player can hold these and still discard all 5 allowed

flush players will discard 1 less card per discard when trying to hold onto the gold

also applies to blue seal
