ive streaked a decent amount of times on abandoned and I can sort of understand the flush sentiment. there's been an unusual amount of flush builds that end up working on abandoned when I'm not actively seeking it.

i don't have enough information with my own game experiences to thoroughly confirm about flushes being better than straights on average. most decks I'm normally inclined to go for the planet route where saturn gives better raw numbers over jupiters.

deck fixing generally favors flushes due to there simply having more tarots that benefit an upward trend for flushes. straights are limited to cutting ends and slightly inflating middle ranks. glass favors both 5 card hands so I'm excluding that

as for jokers im mixed on what the joker pool prefers. most flush jokers have utilities outside of flushes so I'm not really inclined to force pivot to flushes when the alternative pairs with on scoring effects do better so I can't say if flushes have a higher win rate frequency when actively going for that poker hand.

straights are more specialized with how little jokers work with them. most straights jokers are known to enable easier straight draws (1 of which also applies to flushes). i can understand the risk of playing straights because as a 5 card hand it gets hit harder against boss blinds than what flushes usually go for.

i can understand straight builds being an "inconsistent" hand to build around in gs due to its glass cannon like nature. flushes on the other end has higher draw frequency and resource options to compensate for a lower overall scaling benefit so on paper I can understand half of this train of thought. i cant fully agree on the flush end myself until I've actually took the hypothesis seriously in testing but it's not as outrageous as ppl make it to be

Flush and Straight deal with completely different problems when it comes to Gold Stake. Flushes cannot score well enough in the late game that you may need multiple of them, while Straight struggle to consistently draw once every round

You can solve these problems for sure, but which one is easier to solve on Gold Stake? It depends on what the shop gives you, which is not a great look for both hands, and it makes it really hard to tell 100% that one is better than the other. That's what y'all debated over just then. Oh well. I guess that's why Pair is forced, and not Flush or Straight.

Flushes actually need scoring jokers to win consistently because they scale so badly that glasses alone won't be enough sometimes, so for Jokerless, Straights win against Flush more clearly.
