To any cubers out there I recommend trying the balatro cube challenge: do a white stake run on a deck of your choosing and after every boss blind solve a 3x3. You must wait until the cash out screen to start the solve (can't solve during scoring animation). Time stops after you win the run and finish the 8th cube. I got a 6:27 and I think that's good enough for now lol

They're either rage baiting or a jerk ignore them. The game is legitimately hard to learn especially at higher stakes. However the game also does have a high skill ceiling and the very best players can win a gold stake run on virtually every seed.

Don't feel discouraged if you're having a hard time, it takes a while to get good. I'm not even there yet myself.

Check out some videos from balatro university, he has a great YouTube channel (as well as being one of the best single player players) and has a few playlists for beginner tips. A common beginner mistake is not taking advantage of interest mechanic. Don't worry you can improve with some practice or speed up the process with some tips.

You don't have to watch videos to get better but you totally can if you want.

check out balatro university on yt he has some nice guide vids. It's hard to suggest one simple strat it's more about learning more and more little things and putting them together. Very rough summary tho:

Interest is your friend, try to get to and maintain $25. Try to one shot the first hand with a straight or flush if possible. Look for sources of mult then sources of chips (can include planet Joker for your played hand) and then in the later antes sources of x mult.

There are also jokers that the community calls "value jokers" that generate you something over time - $, tarot cards, etc. It's nice to have one of these if they come up.

Yeah like I said the game is about putting together a bunch of little things these are some of the more important lessons. But you will just learn as you play honestly.

Probably the biggest tip is your goal is to try to win every blind in one hand if at all possible especially early on because money is great and more hands remaining earns us more money and then try to get $25 for interest. Money wins runs.

Depends a lot on if you have past experience with similar games or not. Like slay the spire, monster train, dicey dungeons, etc. Less transferable but also helpful is other strategic card games like maybe board games or magic the gathering or whatever. There's a particular mode of thinking when it comes to roguelites/deck builders and the skills are somewhat transferable.

The important thing is to have fun with games. Don't stress about how long it's taking you just try to enjoy the journey of learning and getting better. Before you know it white stake won't feel so hard.

It's meant to be a game that looks simple on the surface but it's actually pretty complex to get good.

It's still really early and you want to learn how to actually program from scratch yourself for sure but my advice would be the direction things seem to be going is very careful problem description and prompting and back and forth with an agent is going to develop at a faster rate than pure humans, even today.

In a professional context you have to be really careful to have good code review before merging as if you don't prompt wisely or monitor what it does like it's an 8 year old kid savant you're likely to have an unmaintainable mess of a codebase. Moreso than you do naturally from humans 😅

It's a little complicated but when played properly they are probably the most consistent strategy for gold stake as it's easy to make the hands. You want something that is helping you scale them like a ride the bus joker or blue seals/planet card generation or something like that.

Don't worry about it for earlier stakes and it isn't even necessary to win gold stake it's just what the big brains often use to have a higher win % at the game's peak difficulty.

Some mechanics in the game actually benefit from playing more hands rather than fewer, like ride the bus or green joker. Those end up being great with pairs. But it costs you $ compared to one shotting.
