and then the balancing moves it down to the point that you lose

incredibly niche and difficult but it's fun that it can happen at all

On green deck you do. Unlike normal decks where you can use discards to at least try to make a perfect hand, each discard costs $1, so you have to reset if delt hand isn’t winnable. Otherwise you can’t afford anything good later on.

Okay so I think I've finally figured out a way to articulate one of my cognitive hangups. Like I mentioned, my most satisfying clears are with the hidden hands. When I can make 5oak, flush5, flush house, etc. And I guess for me, it's obvious why it works. They start out at very high value, and planets scale them rapidly. Add some chips and xmult, and boom, there's an easy clear. So I guess I don't understand how pair can possibly compare to that, especially once you get past the first few antes
