Depends what qualifies as "too modded". Given that it does two unrelated things and has a constant xMult that isn't an integer, it does seem like something localthunk would not add to the game, but that doesn't mean it's bad.

Before wasting time on checking the math, which is better at the beginning of a run with technically no jokers or any modifiers? Scenairo: having ~mid range ranked 2 pairs, mid-range open ended straight draw and 3 suits at best. Going for a full house: I have 4 outs (but scores the best). Going for a straight: 8 outs, but scores the worst. Or going for a flush for inbetween payout and 9 outs? Also for the context: not all 9 flush cards are good for getting enough payout from 1 played hand to reach the goal, so effectivelly I don't have 9 outs, yet the lower ones guarantees the flush aswell which is some form of a safe-play strategy.

2nd battery drain test is almost over. I know that battery drain and charge% is not linearly change by the time/usage, but using it as a standard/framework/reference for comparison purposes, so far:
1.) shopdefault (cards on screen) idle - 100%->63% battery after 1 hour, hit 40% after total of 86 minutes
2.) handplaydefault idle - 100%->60% after 1 hour, still going and waiting to hit 40%

It's almost identical and not as extreme drain as I've experienced during active gameplay. (music is off but sounds are on during gameplay, that could be also the source of battery drain through CPU according to AI/docs)

Trying to explain through an example what might happening (based on the default LÖVE/love2D game engine documentations):
Imagine yourself as a runner (you're the CPU), the task is to run 100 meters in every 1 minute, it's up to your performance how fast, but you run the requested distance at your top speed by default. Let's say you finish the distance in like 15 seconds. But you can't do the next 100m etap before the next minute starts, so what you do? It's logical that you have some rest (remaining 45 seconds) before the next one starts. But as love2D game engine suggests, it doesn't use sleep in the core engine, not resting and looping the core code over and over until the next minute starts. Like running in one place for no other reason but "providing the maximum" while technically not going forward but wasting energy. Implementing the sleep (waiting/resting until the next minute starts) would make the CPU core/thread rest for that certain amount of time, not wasting energy and also letting other (background processes) having that if needed.
If there was no segmentation in time/task, it would be like: the more faster CPU you have the faster the game would run which would be crazy/funny. Happened in the era of 286 based computers, the TURBO button was sort of a "patch" of the unexpected problem in the early days. Games were just ran too fast on later and stronger hardwares. You might get it like this.
Without using sleep and putting the process of the game IDLE between "two momentums", it keeps running the loop like crazy until it hits the moment of time where it gets the green light to do the next process and calculation. There might be many other sources of battery drain in Balatro aswell.

Same screen (for example shop screen), background music is on (to negate the mobile speaker energy usage by constantly having music in both of tests). Using macros doing the following:
First test: clicking around by macro (to have input aswell to also minimalize the differences between the two tests) but in a form which doesn't make a sound ingame (not playing back/calling a sound effect)
Second test: almost the same but the macro does stuff which makes noise.

• If the two drains the battery similarly, we can confidently say that sound playback/call method is not the problem.
