Generally, prioritize rarity

with a few exceptions for ones that have prereqs (glass joker, stone joker, etc.)

There's a few basic tips, such as;

When playing a flush round 1, you need 40 or more chips from your cards to get 300+, so Diamonds QJ1064 would be exactly enough, whereas QJ1063 would require an extra card;
Playing the hand you're given, like when you get a full house than can make up a chunk of the score but you have a straight or a flush that can beat the blind in 1 hand - you could risk it and dig for the 1 hand win, but generally you're better playing the guaranteed 2/3 hand win than going for a 1 hand win and ending up losing the run;
Don't go autopilot and forget to move around jokers like Brainstorm and Blueprint, and don't forget to move cards in hand for Photo, Chad, so on!!! VERY IMPORTANT

Another thing is watching some of Dr Spectred's runs and learning his thought process - he stops and ponders decisions at most of the steps of the way, between what hands are more likely to go for even as early as round 1, what order to do things in, whether now's a good time to sell and buy a lategame joker or if it's too early and risky, so on.

These'll get you to considerable progress. I have learned throughout many things that it's easy to enter autpilot automatically in games and in real life, and that life is much better if you take your time and learn to think things through. Your winrates will be better, you'll feel that juicy feeling of your brain working (I miss it please come back), and it will feel much more rewarding knowing you gave it your all and didn't lose to a simple mistake without thinking about it

Oh, that's another one I remembered recently - usually outside of ante 1 as Lacroix said you don't want to do skips because you're missing out on shop opportunities and in-blind triggers like gold seal/card or lucky, the face money Jokers, so on. However, either Roffle or Spectred once said that if you want to go for a negative joker, you should first consider where your scaling is right now. If you can comfortably beat the current blinds, there's an argument to go for the tag. Otherwise, it's too risky.

You may also find that the higher stake you go (and on green deck) you have less money production in your average run, so going for skips gets a bit better
