The game looks at all the cards you play, and sees how many different hand types are applicable to it, between pair, 3oak, 4oak, 5oak, flush, and straight
All of the other hand types are some combination of these base "contains" hands, with the obvious caveat that full House and two pair need different ranks
then it chooses the highest applicable one on the hand type list

In this case, the played hand still contains a flush, even though it's not being scored as one
