I usually used to play like flush or two pair and tried playing pairs now, but it feels way too weak. I only have 2 cards that can scor or add mult/chips from jokers. everything is contextual but in general if you don't have any direction, it's good to build the black suits over the red suits because of blackboard potential, and because agate+arrowhead are better than bloodstone+rough gem
The consensus on which ranks you should be preemptively building is pretty fuzzy but face cards are okay, nines are okay because of cloud 9, Aces are okay, etc
there's definitely priority rankings for every type of consumable and it just takes a lot of experience to get it ingrained and learn it for yourself
