in round 1 there are a certain handful of 5 card poker hands that can score 300 points or one shot the small blind. i try to do the same thing for the boss blind with at least something to increase my score probability. if i don’t have any jokers or planets as a worst case scenario, i would either do the same thing i did on small blind but twice (sometimes with a lower score flush/straight/fh you have a couple hands left for pairs/2 pairs) or stick with some suit/strength tarot as a hail mary either from vagabond or shop after evaluating all the other bad options.

in docspectreds yt channel, he has a 4 video playlist called balatro 101 on how to pilot through the first antes in either default scenarios or worst case scenarios. stuff like knowing what to go for, what cards to discard, what cards you have left over, etc…

there's nothing wrong with that, it's just that trying to learn territory you've been in for the first time is a lot rougher on harder decks and anaglyph specifically is just a neutral deck at best
