im not good at the game. 4 wins and 30 hours. I got to ante 10 with this. All hearts and diamonds trigger +6 mult and you get an x1.5mult at the end of each hand. i screwed up by selling an uncommon joker. I couldnt save state. If i could, Id have x3mult per hand. i started doing a straight run then eventually switched to flush for obvious reasons. I had the tag for my most played hand to be in celestial booster packs. i should have kept straight hand # of times played higher before i switched to flush. it would have got me farther to have more coins for the 'Runner' joker card as well as more planet cards.

i also ended up with both VHS vouchers. someone could take this seed far. Here it is:

VYF2H1C8 - I used this on plasma deck, skip first 2 blinds to get the joker that copies left most ability with a +10 mult, you then get a glass 10 in a card pack. Open the buffoon pack in the first shop after skipping blinds and you also get DNA. From this I personally worked towards lots of red seal glass 10s & after ante 8 you do finally get the glass joker. Overall a decent run from a seed I found a couple days ago just playing.

When you click analyze the state of the settings is saved and the results are memoized. When settings are updated it marks the cache as stale and the analyze auto re runs.

The only difference is you don’t have to click analyze again

fwiw, I don't know where the bindings for immolate are documented apart from its own repo, so I'm not even sure how you'd discover this (tbf, i haven't actually read all the docs for it)

I get that it’s not the easiest to understand, but I’m just a hobbyist programmer and Immolate was one of the first projects I’ve made for Balatro

as for how The Soul in particular generates jokers

we're trying (or I'm trying) to figure out how to use immolate to figure out which joker will be generated from a given soul

most of the library naming is pretty intuitive, but that specific thing isn't clear, and I don't see anywhere it's explained in the documentation

in my original example that I gave to @jaunty wing for his app, i looked up 2kh9h9n/plasma and looked at the 2nd ante small blind's arcana pack, which has a soul. i know it makes a negative perkeo, but I'd like to see that in the app

it's not about that

people who make stuff to be used by other people almost always have blind spots about what is and isn't intuitive because they built the thing, so it's completely transparent to them

there's no judgment, just "here's a use case I had that I couldn't solve myself"

I know in Cryptid (a mod of mine) we have a running joke that “98% of Balatro players can’t read” - but more of that comes from the mechanics not being explained obviously enough

So in fact most developers are probably in that 98% for their own projects lol

The C++ rewrite was never fully finished anyway so that’s another reason the documentation is pretty lacking

Besides the aforementioned optimizations, the plan was to make an easier filter system compared to just writing code

(I know that doesn’t rly apply here tho lol - but the new tool should be more documented when it’s ready)

well as i said, the api isn't unintuitive

so it was easy to see how you could be going for the whole basically-self-documenting-code approach

and for most use-cases, i think it's probably good enough, which is why other guy was ready to just dive in and figure it out

but i could see this use-case was going to be a little harder

Fair play, but for open source software that does things I wouldn’t know where to start doing, anything is standing on the shoulder of giants over learning how balatro does its RNG for card generation lol so comparing that savings of brain power compared to having to look at code is leagues easier lol
