I kinda learned pixel art through making pokemon fusions of a similar size and the first relatively simple character pngs I'd do without following a reference could take upwards of like 5 hours

I'm wondering what a jester would look like in their language to replace the Joker text.
I only have 3 sigils so far

• Drifter, aka humanoid
• Romance (it is culture to wear a leaf as a romantic accessory)
• Effigy, aka a humanoid object
  This sentence, for example, means "I love my plushies"

Idk if the leaf would be a part of the word "jester" or not
They can be more charismatic than a clown but that isnt really their purpose
They're entertainers

Perhaps this jingle-bell like symbol can be whimsy? So putting it next to the drifter sigil would mean "Whimsy person" aka Jester?

It may look too similar to Romance from far away though

This little dice trinket called Liberty bell is also 'Important" themed

Using a specific Statue of Liberty color

It's usually more of a blue but in the balatro universe its a green

And how about this bell sigil?
There's bells all over shelters and religious spaces
They mean "Sanctuary is this way!" or "You are safe here."
People would often ring bells to signal people to safety when wild animals raid their villages
Similar to how the Villagers in Minecraft have a bell, now that I think of it
Eye and Bell probably mean "Church" when combined

As for the high contrast version you are right! I don't know if there are rules to follow on how to turn something into "high contrast", is it just making the reds (♥️/♦️) and blacks (♠️/♣️) much more closer to pink/orange/blue/green palette-wise?

Personally I’d recommend having a look at official Friends of Jimbo cards to see what colour palettes they use. The trick is to use the set amount of colours in a way that doesn’t diminish the quality of the work, and maybe do what I do and even reference parts of the game in the art

For example…

When I made the Friends of Jimbo for Nubby's Number Factory, I specifically used the diamonds suit for the high contrast, so I could reference Cheese Nubby and Tony Jr., both of which have a primary yellow colour

Looking further into this, I think the only real critique I have (one I am guilty of i n a past suit) is that you should be mindful about how close the character's sprite (hair, staff, etc.) gets to the symbol and rank of the cards. Normally there should be a 1 or 2 pixel gap between the two, though this isn't an immediate high priority

I tried my best on that. It might need to be pushed a little bit further though. (Monoco's staff gave me a nightmare since he is right handed)

Maelle and Monoco are a bit suffering from this.

While Maelle is easily fixable (hair length is always adjustable) the staff might need to be reconsidered to match the margins. I like that you reinforced my idea that it should be kept in mind while doing this.

The staff's angle could be tweaked a little bit to be closer and/or more upright so it doesn't go over the symbol. Sometimes it also helps to get creative with the outline of your characters and realize when you do or don't need them

For example: For my TABS face cards, I didn't need an outline for the Pirate Queen's hair or the guys flying / smoke from the Mammoth because they're more or less either pitch black or silhouettes

This is just an example, your results may vary

I put the text in a completely different font to the rest of the tarot cards to make it feel more special (because it kinda just is)

Are the designs of the planet cards based on anything, or are they just their own original idea

Considering changing the text on The Soul to Latin

It's a card back/enhancement sort of thing that is based on this aesthetic here. I'm thinking a recycled sheet made of strips of paper bags or old scripture weaved together like papyrus while the edges are folded and held together by rope, but... but I just can't do it right! Someome please help a lady out...
