I was thinking that aces would be cool! They could also be like, non-human jokers/items like. I think the soul would make for a fantastic ace, as would the banana.

As for my choices, I mainly wanted to go for jokers which were recognisable / liked within the community. Since the legendaries are pretty recognisable (and my personal bias bc im boring /silly), they got the priority, with Jimbo slipping in just to round the numbers, plus. Literally being the most recognisable joker.

I decided to split them based on them being based off real life figures (Perkeo, Triboulet and Chicot) or fictional figures (Yorick, Canio, and by extension Jimbo)

For clubs and diamonds, I decided that I wanted to represent the uncommon and rare jokers respectively, so using that logic again I decided on Showman, Mime and Hack for clubs (they all ended up performance related to some degree, so it fitted well lmao) and (spoilers I guess lmao) Baron, Blueprint/Brainstorm and Vagabond for the Diamonds (Bc rares are. Rare. Idk I think rare I think diamonds)

(Also disclaimer but Vagabond is 100% a bias pick I will admit that)

If you want me to get REALLY specific, I can do so w/ the legendaries and Jimbo:

• Jimbo's the face of Balatro, makes sense he's the king.
• Perkeo practically revolutionizes a lot of endless runs and strategies (Cryptids, Observatory) and opens up the door for some niche ones too (such as Perkacola, where you're creating a lot of ankhs, then duplicating and selling colas) so. His reputation led me to making him the other king.
• Triboulet is often associated w/ the story of a jester smacking a king on the bottom, then when threatened with execution unless he could say something more offensive, said that he mistook him for the queen. (Also it's a fun irony bc the crown he's holding is based off the Baron too)
• Chicot had a military background, so having him as a Jack fitted in very nicely.
• Canio being a face card is 100% ironic, so I decided to at least make him a Jack just bc it's. Closer to being not a face card, and we've already got our kings.
• This left Yorick as the second queen of the batch.

The other half are mainly based off vibes. Hack is a jack bc funny rhyme, Vagabond it just makes sense he's the lowest of the face cards. Showman and Baron are both leaders to some degree, BP/BS and Mime are just leftover picks.
