Aesprite is what I use! I’ve got two years experience working in the program now since I use it for my job.

Basically I get the idea I want in my head, say for instance I knew I wanted a solar system joker. I start with a background if it’s gonna need one, then move on to detailing the most important parts, in that case I deemed the Sun to be the most important.

From there I just doodle and sketch things, if I like them I keep them or iterate on it. If not, I try to figure out why so I can fix it in the future!

General tip for anyone beginning is that Layers are your friend. Can really help when you want to change something small.

Additionally, there’s no shame in copying. It’s how all artists learn. It’s what you’re able to change and make your own that matters
