the way I personally feel about zodiac cards as single rank modifiers is that unless you want to thin your deck down to only certain ranks, the effects are somewhat mediocre

it might be the best play if you want a long run, but if Balatro had zodiacs in base game and I was running gold stake, unless I was specifically going for 3/4/5 of a kind or flush 5, I'd just pick one at random if I had the spare cash or skip them (limiting my available options in shop)
