You need to focus on 1 hand only on 99.99% of the time
You also usually need some ×mult to truly get higher scores
Don't take literally anything you see at the shop, focus on whatever benefits you (unless you're on the early game, just take anything that helps you win while also keeping your money high enough (recommended to be at around $25 to benefit from the extra $5 from interest)

I normally take 1 chip/multi joker early (preferably scaling) and look for a money joker to get that early money scaling
then from there focus on a hand making it so I can confirm get it every round with tarots, and that it will score well with planets/xmulti jokers
most the time you can just get chips from planets and dont need a chip joker late game, money and xmulti/good base +multi are the main things

the Ngimonians look back at the past as a mythological time, a lot of artifacts are left, incantations which are the remains of their ancient mothertongue are kept close secrets since they contain magic, and the north of the continent is littered with ancient ruins much greater than anything built in the past millennium

the second way is spirit magic. There are spirits in the world, and they need to bond to people. Most spirits have an animal form and need a human to stay attached to the world, their 'vessel'
the specifics of the relationship between spirit and vessel differs, from the old person being completely gone to the spirit just acting as a sort of pet, and everythin in between. Spirits can cast magic through their vessels, and usually have one or a few 'types' of magic, and they can then do basically anything within that type
so for example, water magic, cold magic, seduction magic, flower magic, etc

the third way is through invocations. This is a way only used by the Ngimonian people. There are invocations which, when said by someone who has undergone a certain ritual in one of the temples where that's possible, do a specific magical effect. Some of these are widely known, some of these are kept secret by religious sects, noble families, or given from parent to child in some rare cases
usually, a religious sect will have secret invocations that fit with the type of the spirit they worship, but not always
