Burglar helps, but can sometimes conflict with a few jokers that rely on discards to work around their downside.

Still helps

Blackboard and hologram are great, with blackboard, you just build a pair and try to play any other red cards you can to prevent them from interfering.

Hologram encourages you to bloat your deck with random cards, which doesn’t affect crafting pairs enough to warrant not using it.

Seeing Double can also work, easy condition to meet.

Ride the Bus and Green Joker are both good +mults with a condition to work around.

Square joker doesn’t care what you play, you can always scale it.

Jokers of this sort make pair builds not just viable, but consistently strong compared to other hands.

High card is in a similar boat but pair has a reasonably higher potential with a minimal loss in consistency.

might be a dumb question but why is black deck never considered for high score runs, it literally hands you another joker slot for free and you just lose a hand. i understand the loss of a hand is really bad for econ and early game, but if you can get a really good early source of money, the extra joker slot has to be worth the loss of a hand. especially once you grab grabber and nacho tong

Ghost gives easier access to spectrals, Plasma doubles the magnitude of your scoring. Having 1 more joker slot is nice, but when ignoring plasma, spectrals tend to be much more important to the high score. Black deck just doesn't have as easy a time achieving that.

It certainly can be done with black deck, it's just much more tedious.

Other people who do naneinf runs might be able to share more context on this.
