honestly obelisk isnt that good of a card to begin with

if you get it early in your game, youre super prone to being unable to lose the charge of it since once every hand is tied up for the most uses, all those hands will kill it

and by the late game you probably already have a particular hand you need to use to win

I almost saved a gold stake run because of a Rental Obelisk, but then the flint happened and the rental was too costly to my eco

so long story short: the flint has been moved up my shitlist a few more notches

The good thing with abandoned deck is that you have fewer card, so every upgrade apply on cards/ op card you built come way easier. The best way to play abandoned deck is to aim for five of a kind or flush five. The beginning is the hardest part really. Take everything you can to grab easy chips/mult (hierophant/empress). Some jokers are also very strong with the abandoned deck (Hack / Ride the bus ....) because there conditions are more reliable than with other decks. If you are already doing all of this, you are just unlucky my friend but don't worry it's not the easiest deck to use, especially on higher stakes.

Another advice, avoid investing to much in aces with the abandoned deck. Yes, they give the highest amount of chips but their combos with jokers are pretty limited. If the game is good enough, you can turn them into 2 using strengh to get better synergies

I came up with this

beat the small blind in 1 hand. buy the justice card in the shop. then, open the mega arcana pack to find a soul, and get triboulet from it. use the justice on a card that you are going to draw for a royal flush later like the 10. then, use hermit to top up your money. buy the gros michel in the shop. reroll to find and use hermit/the fool to copy hermit. open the buffoon pack and acquire the constellation and hologram. keep doing rerolls and make sure you get hermit or fool and neptune to upgrade straight flush on every hand. at the end of your spree, buy the playing card voucher. beat the big blind in 1 hand and gros michel will break. in the shop buy the mega standard pack and select the two red seal glass king and queen cards that will also be in your royal flush. open the arcana pack and select the ace for your straight flush and make it a glass cards. use the fool to copy that justice for the boss blind. before rerolling, buy cavendish, and then keep rerolling and using the hermit and upgrading straight flush until you can't anymore. for the boss blind, make sure to draw your straight flush with no debuffs. upgrade the jack into a glass and then play your hand.
