Besides flush fives scaling slower, they're harder to start and deck manipulate for. At the very minimum you need a suit changer on a 3oak of the rank you want, and also a death. Meanwhile the minimum for flush houses is a single suit changer. The other ways of getting them, through strengths/sigil/wild cards/DNA etc. are all generally much easier for flush houses. You also get more options with flush houses, as with 2 of the same suit changer, you can have 2 ranks that have 3 of the same suit, and 2 ranks that have 2 of the same suit, which just makes them more likely to be viable

Also what spectered will do is he'll get a suit changer in his inventory, which if you draw a full house where 2 of the cards match the suit of the suit changer, you'll be able to play a flush house as soon as round 2. This allows you to unlock it quick so that you can upgrade your early hand and flush houses in parallel

If you want to do the same thing with flush fives early on you need to get lucky or something like a vagabond

But you don't want to play flush houses unless you're almost guaranteed to draw them. Easiest way to do that is on abandoned. 1 hung man and 1 immolate/extra hand/extra discard and you can see every card in your deck

best thing you can do is either watch how good players play (balatro university, etc) or record your runs and send the link to me/here (by here i mean #🎥・videos-and-streams ) and people will be glad to point out stuff

Some times you just have to Econ up, and then roll down. When just starting and having not unlocked a bunch of jokers it can be pretty rough. After a while I started checking my collection and getting little goals to unlock jokers... widening that pool can lead to some better luck

Okay I haven’t played the game in a couple months..

I booted my Xbox up today, haven’t played since January-ish…. I only had the crazy/unachievable 100 million in one hand and one legendary joker to unlock… imo since I played today the runs seem way more default… like it isn’t possible to play with anaglyph deck to try to “game the system” for a bunch of arcana packs anymore. Not that I’m tryna “game the system” I had tried lol! I played for months and never got a run, using anaglyph, where the arcana tag came up before ante 8 and I just played 7 runs in a row where EVERY OTHER tag was an arcana tag. I just think that’s kinda lame. Like okay I knew it mostly wasn’t completely random before, for getting a good hand with whatever deck one played with, buttt I just played after updating the game and it seems different. Again, typically you play and get a random (ish) hand but I played a couple hands today and it seemed.. constrainted.
