For ante 1, learn to clear SB in one hand and BB in two hands without Jokers, mitigates the -1 discard a lot. Get used to using hands as Discards if you really need to. Ultimately, you need to be less picky about the Jokers you get and pick up things that allow you to stabilize and cancel out the -1 discard, over thing that might be more OP or broken
