WiX Cli Backend API Query

Note: Astro endpoints replace HTTP functions in the Wix CLI for Apps.

Please help me understand by giving the example as i could not find any in the docs.

I am creating the custom app where i need to send the api request to external endpoint so trying to create a custom backend endpoint to hide the secrets? is it a fine approach?

What's the alternative to doing so?

We are a company related to IP Geolocation, and trying to integrate our APIs to provide/improve existing apps related to geolocation

Only thing that I can suggest is to use the ‘old’ CLI

npm create @wix/app@latest

it is @wix/cli that is new CLI?

They may use the @wix/CLI package for both ‘new’ and ‘old’ CLI. Not sure too much on what’s behind closed doors since I have stayed away from the ‘new’ CLI as it’s not a feature that is complete yet

In the end, we will have to migrate to new CLI as old cli will not be maintained/updated.

I believe it will be supported for a long time, as most apps are currently still on the old stack. So even though the Astro CLI will eventually replace it, I expect the old one to remain supported for quite some time.

Keep in mind that the Astro CLI is currently in beta and does not yet have feature parity with the existing solution 🙂

The npm create line for the old CLI should be back on the docs but after looking at the docs this still has not been changed.

@hard hawk can this be arranged as this new CLI has limited features and should be optional for users. I have already said this before and not being heard. I will link in the message where the old npm create line should be but also it says it’s in dev preview but shouldn’t as the doc is for the old CLI.

To be honest, I find docs very confusing

But what's the point of rushing a new CLI if it's not ready for prime time, even core plugins like shipping rates do not work with it, not to mention other things. At least a documentation should have been provided regarding missing features and possibly a roadmap to achieve a feature parity with old CLI

We raised that concern on day one, but little has been done to address it, unfortunately.

BUt now you know and should be able to use the old 🙂
