Wheel should be faster on oval but I couldnt match or beat my time. I was like 5th world on controller and probably like 10th or 15th on wheel. Lol i thought I might take WR with whee but was wrong.

It would be tough. I have a wheel, but I only use it when I'm messing around in BeamNG Drive. Forza feels so odd on wheel. I tried the TCR cars around Mugello on wheel once and I was 1 - 1.5 seconds off my controller pace.

you would have settings in game and on the wheel for each game ideally. the issue is forza is so fundamentally flawed with ffb that there are no settings on either side that will make it feel like its even in the same genre as games like AC and iRacing

FM4 drove fine on my old Fanatec CSR set, FM7 drove fine on the g923, I'm sure you could set it up it's just effort like anything else with a wheel. Sim isn't turn key either way.

I'd definitely recommend picking up FM3 and FM4 at some point. After experiencing those games, you'll never look at FM'23 in the same way. Those older FM games had so much more passion and effort put into them.

I don't think it's entirely Turn 10's fault for the direction the series went. I think it was in large part higher-ups at Microsoft making demands that Turn 10 had to comply with. I feel like the series would've gone in a much better direction if Turn 10 had been an independent studio.

It's frustrating because at its core, FM'23 isn't a bad game. If Microsoft had allowed Turn 10 to fix all the bugs and tuning exploits, add missing tracks from prior games, reintroduce the Auction House, and add in-game clubs like FM4 had, FM'23 would've been the best FM of the modern generation. Unfortunately, Microsoft cut support short to fund their AI investments, and now FM'23 is left unfinished and decaying.

I feel that. I wish I still lived in Washington as I was just a five hour drive from British Columbia. Now living in Arizona, that drive is more like 24 hours. All the money I'd be spending traveling to Canada likely wouldn't be offset by the winnings I'd get from competing, so if we do get a Canadian Race Days, there's no way I could justify it. 😅

1. Start turning in at 1/2 of the left curb and then lower to 3rd gear, coast and start accelerating when the tarmac changes color

2. Start turning just a tiny bit before the last sign on the left, lower to 4th gear and play with the throttle a bit.

3. Break at the mid to end of the red tree, downshift to 2nd gear and trail break. Wait until the PRORATA sign and start accelerating. The banking offers more grip

I can't get over the fact that I did get into settings but only to find out the keybind for camera change button and I just glazed through the assists, I am annoyed that I didn't pay attention to the assists...

Basically the wheels could spin, so I think no throttle control

maybe sport TC too but I don't think there were steering assists or anything more than just ABS on brakes too, you could control the car fairly well and I did lock up multiple times because the brake pedal felt horrible, no indication on the pressure, cheesy soft

It's probably a hall effect pedal instead of a load cell. Measures how far you press instead of how hard.

Qualifying times are MP4 on maple short, finals will be MP4 on the full maple valley circuit.

fair enough, i have g29 with a broken brake padel, so i put the brake rubber for the force feedback from the not working brake padel into the clutch padel, disabled the brake padel

i now have a brake and gas, manual shifter and g29

i put soft tyres, ABS off, steering sim, TC off, SC off, shifting manual (no clutch) and just ran sub 30 somehow

Use manual with clutch it's faster, just drive like it's manual. Anything with a race transmission in forza doesn't need clutch. Pressing clutch just makes the shift take longer.

Only time they turn it off historically is in LMGC finals.

I love the ffb on iRacing, it's so refined without much tweaking. Forza you have to dial in the advanced wheel settings to get a good drive. Although it felt pretty good on my friends g923. My wheel felt awful when I tried it on FM23. I could barely drive oval 🥲

Tbf though I didn't spend all that money on a rig and DD stuff to play forza.

Most top drivers who have wheels play forza on controller anyways.

The problem with forza is that at it's core, it's made for controller. So the wheel implementation can be a littler weird.

racing gear can get kind of crazy, even in the mid range. I have the G Pro DD kit, and just my wheel base is $600 without a steering wheel or pedals so its certainly good to keep something running if it does the job

• Legit time estimate of when the drive took place (video has metadata and I can confirm the time within ±5min because of it and therefore QR code signup can be easily found and matched with me because I actually did sign up and was allowed to race)
• A video recording of my drive where majority of the drive is visible including the fastest lap which is top 4 in Europe

This is a major offense in rule implementation, I signed up agreeing with the T&Cs, which are not being followed by the organizers and are directly impacting my result which would in this case result in a #1 spot this day + a Top10 EU qualification.

My result was not even registered in their system even though they personally showed me the tables with daily results, overall results and explained the process of putting in the names and times. They just refused to put my lap in the system and now my lap never got recorded.

iRacing is a lot harder than forza, cold race tires have less grip than street tires. Takes a while for people to grasp the concept.

the only real option is either getting a driving force shifter and modding it to be an ebrake, or getting the rs shifter/handbrake and a Logitech racing adapter. Unfortunatly the way consoles work is everything needs to run thru and be recognised by the wheelbase so you are limited to whatever brand you buy into. There are adapter that can work around this but they often cost as much as the hardware youd be buying to just do it "normally" anyway

Depends on the car. Usually 540 or 900 depending.

Different cars have different turning radiuses

GT cars are usually 540, street cars are 900. Doing a quick google you have to balance your turning radius and wheel turning speed to get it to feel right.

To be fair you can probably get a front clip of a car with no engine for a couple hundred bucks. Could have them cut it right behind the driver's seat so you can mount your seat in there. The EPS could probably simulate some sort of torque in the steering wheel, the tesla’s already have it with their racing games on the center console

You'd have to disconnect all the power steering stuff and hook up motors to the column, then make your own custom FFB software to run the motors. You can do it but you need to be quite the engineer to pull that off.

there is a rubber stopper in the brake pedal to try and make it feel more realisitic. The only way to counteract it without taking anything apart is to caibrate the pedal in game to the extent you are able to press it down

100% if you have a good rig or wheel mount, installation can be a pain in the ass with how tight the nuts are (i had to use a mini wrench) but the sensation is so cool, it feel like actual car brakes somehow (i even found it a lot softer, ill have to use one of those plastic stiffeners that the brakes come with). But yea this eliminates that "on/off" switch sensation from the old G920 pedals.

I haven't touched the game since the last LMGC ended back in late Jan/early Feb. LMGC was the only reason I played the game, and now that it's gone, I have zero incentive to get on. I'm hoping we'll see something adjacent to the LMGC in Forza Horizon 6, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

I've always liked Forza because you don't need an expensive sim setup to be competitive. A standard $60 Xbox controller is all you need to compete with the best in the world. The barrier to entry of "real" sims has always been a major turnoff. Thankfully, I have a wheel/pedal setup, but I only ever use it for casual BeamNG.drive. I was 15 years old when I got into competitive Forza, and with that came an endless amount of time to sweat the series and get good.

Now that I'm nearly 26 years old, I don't have the time nor the motivation to no-life sims to reach an equivalent skill-level to where I am in Forza. I'd rather to stick to what I already know and have poured years into. I no-lifed Forza for years to get to where I am today, and I just don't have it in me to go through that grind again. It was not healthy. 😅

But anyway, I hope we get more competitive Forza events in the future. I'll be quite sad if this is it. There was a stretch from August 2021 to November 2023 where we got no Forza comps on the level of the LMGC, and I'm hoping history isn't going to repeat itself. 🤞

I guess if competitive Forza ends up being dead for good, the next logical move for me would be Gran Turismo since it's the closest equivalent. That transition would be way smoother and much less grindy than moving to a full-blown sim like iRenting.

Yeah agreed, LMGC is one of the only reasons I have played the game too, although I did do some online racing, I have never touched the career mode. It's very cool that LMGC is coming to LMU however to be quick you really need a wheel and pedals not just an Xbox controller. Also being quick on that game/sim is much harder than FM.

There are controller players in LMU already on PC but Im not sure what that experience is like. It is a game where the emphasis is on simulation more than accesibility for input device as of right now which is a huge deviation from forza. Hopefully it caters to both crowds well enough, but I think any hope of controller players being in top split lobbies with actual pro players like James Baldwin are probably unlikely. We shall see tho
