When i did the in store comp i was told by the logitech rep the only things allowed to be changed were the transmission from auto to manual and the camera view. The faster guys used manual but i still managed to get 6th on the online leaderboard with a 51.5 using auto transmission and moderate assists

They will have the chance to try multiple times but youd need skill and luck on the day to beat craviators time or even get near it. it has borderline force feedback, but for that price? Cannot complain a bit

only issue was to get the drivers set up properly, but once you get a good hang of it its a bless.

How do you guys drive the P1 GTR for the Logitech g challenge. It has so much understeer

Pretty much all of the McLaren's featured in the G Challenge understeer like mad. The P1 GTR is probably one of the worst of the bunch, though, in terms of understeer.

To get around it, you've gotta engine brake and trail brake to get the time out of the car. Rather than smoothly downshifting through each corner, you've got a rapidly downshift as fast as you can. In real life, you'd destroy the car doing this, but Forza is far from real life.

Rapidly downshifting allows the car to stop faster, therefore allowing you to get on the gas sooner. Engine braking also unsettles the car slightly, but you need the car to be slightly unsettled to get the rotation out of it.

As for trail braking, you gotta gradually let on and off the brakes through each corner, which makes the transition smoother and doesn't cost you as much monument compared to just slamming the brakes.

As for the handbrake, this track thankfully isn't as bad as previous combos. The only corners where hand braking is really necessary is through the first and last corners. Through the first corner, engine brake to gear 4, then once you're about halfway through, tap the handbrake and immediately upshift to gear 5.

Through the last corner, go as wide as you can on the blue/white rumble strip on the right, then turn-in tight and tap the handbrake about halfway through, then get on the gas and hope and pray you don't go wide down the final straight. It feels like complete RNG, which makes it all the more frustrating.

I feel like the MP4 would've been even worse than the P1 GTR around this combo. Of all the cars we've had in the G Challenge, I'd rank the P1 GTR as being the third worst in terms of understeer. The top two spots go to MP4 as #2 and the M23 as #1.

The M8B featured in one of the Bonus Stages several months back was probably one of the least understeer-prone McLarens I've driven in the G Challenge. The rest, though, understeer like there's no tomorrow. Handbraking is basically a necessity, otherwise you'll be left in the dust.

It was the worst last season. That MP4 around Spa required the handbrake through essentially every corner. Who knows what the other two combos will be like, but thankfully this first combo only requires two handbrakes, which is way better than the handbrake atrocity that was the previous season.

Try these controller deadzones. The only thing I'd suggest changing is instead of 100 on the self-alignment try 0 instead. These McLaren's understeer terribly, so you want as much slip as possible.

So how’s this thing work? You go online and register then just sit at home and grind that track over and over trying to get top 16 lap times in your region on all 3 qualifiers on the Logitech rivals thing? Then if you do you get like a email saying your in the like actual race?
Then all top 16 race live against each other in a 3 race event?

From what I understand off the racing rules doc, top 16 is for in-store race days. Online rivals it’s top 5 per region to qualify (except North America, which is top 6).
You can race on all qualifiers and bonus stage, but for example, let’s say you quali on Q1; you can still lap on Q2 and Q3 but since you already qualified on Q1, you won’t quali again

My g29 pedals I’ve had for like 8 years or more I think are starting to go out. Keep having issues with it acting as if my trans is slipping or something. Will just randomly bounce off the rev limiter with out putting power to the wheels. Screws me up a lot when it happens but is such a random issue I have no idea what it is.

Yeah it won’t hurt trying, don’t worry about being slow at first it just takes heaps of practice I suppose, if you’re trying on wheel I have no advice for settings, etc, for controller you can scroll up for other guys’ tips on deadzone settings

Might be worth looking into again (if you dont grab one anyway) once LeMans Ultimate jumps to console, assuming thats where you primarily play

your timing is actually pretty good. Logitech has the new RS pedals that use a load cell in the brake, which is what you want, and if you plug it into their racing adapter, you can use them on console with the G29 base, then if you jump to pc, or want to upgrade wheels in the future, there is a pathway to swap out the G29 base with one of the direct drive bases (logitech only if you are on console but any base you want if you switch to pc)

Yeah the pros look slightly better. And after buying the separate clutch they’re about $100 difference. But yeah you’re right if I wanna just get pedals that’s a good way to go. I really just need mine to work right and I’d be alright. But new better ones with the load cell sounds nice. Tho idk what they actually equates to in real feeling

Thing I don’t like about the brake on the OG pedals is I have no real idea how much pressure I’m using since the spring or bushing they use to make the pressure in the pedal doesn’t really start having pressure till your at like 1/2 brake pressure. Could probably adjust that with the dead zone settings tho

load cell is pretty much as good as it gets before you are dropping $$$ on hydraulic load cell brakes. The load cell will let you brake based on pressure not travel distance and youll have control over how firm or soft they are. Load cell brakes are considered the #1 thing you can do to improve consistency

They've changed the structure of the tournament, so this is no longer the case. There are no semifinals anymore. It's the top 5 in the region (top 6 for North America) that progress through to the next stage, with the next stage being the Grand Final. It's harder to qualify now since there's no semis, but it's nice that if you make it through Rivals, you're guaranteed to walk away with a least a little $$$.

I always find that the car behaves very different when I play with the force feedback with steering. The throttle and brakes are fine for me. I seem to adjust alot of the steering, but I think I might give modifying the self alignment some time.

I use wheel and pedal setup but I've recently gotten a gamesir g7 pro with TMR sticks and its way better than my elite 2. Been running the elite 2 for years and just switched. The game sir is way cheaper and seems to have way better functionality. The sticks are a night and day difference. Its nice not to have stick drift. I imagine it would be great as well with racing. The price is much better as well at a typical sales price of 80$.

I just realized that we have done the P1 GTR on this very same track a year ago. Only difference was that it was 25 Degrees Clear (before) vs 24 Degrees Cloudy (now).

Also the times were a lot slower as well, so not sure if we all improved in 1 year because the fastest time back then was a 1:09:9xxx, and now its a 1:07:5xx.

Unfortunately, those Xbox controllers aren't very sturdy and they wear and tear quite fast — even more so with the strain of countless hours of Rivals sweat. I'm extremely patient (hence my alias), so I've never once thrown or smashed a controller in rage, but I've still gone through a lot of them.

My first controller broke after about a year (2015 - 2016) because I accidentally dropped it one too many times, which caused the right bumper to completely snap off. I guess it still technically worked, but playing without a right bumper would've been very annoying.

My second controller actually held up very well. The only reason I replaced it was because after three years (2016 - 2019) of Forza abuse, the thumb sticks were super loose and had almost no retention left in them, which made making precise inputs harder than it needed to be.

My third controller only lasted me around six months, though. It was fine in the beginning, then it developed an issue where it would fairly frequently not register "B" button presses, which was a huge problem since that's the upshift button. It was enraging how many times I lost an awesome lap because the controller didn't properly register my button presses.

My fourth controller was much more reliable. It lasted me around two and a half years ( Feb 2020 - Dec 2022), which I ultimately replaced because the rumble motors started to feel pretty weak, and I can't drive to save my life without rumble feedback. It blows my mind how some people can drive like that and be quick.

My fifth controller I used for about a year and a half (Dec 2022 - July 2024), which I ended up replacing because it developed intermittent connection issues where it would randomly disconnect during races, and the last thing I'd want is for that to happen in a big event like the LMGC.

I'm now on my sixth controller, and so far, it's held up well. I haven't really noticed any degradation of the controller, which is surprising.

The biggest reason for the time discrepancy is because back in season #1 the combo was set up with medium tires, whereas this time around it was set up with soft tires. The top guys were doing 1:07.5s around that combo in the season #1 Grand Final since soft tires were allowed in the Final.

I've thought about purchasing an Elite in the past, but the reliability issues of those controllers have always turned me off. Plus, I don't really think it's necessary. Using an Elite controller isn't gonna magically make me as fast as Bowkett, as much as I wish it would. 😂 😅

Change your steering angle? the in-game steering lock is a per-car setting that can be adjusted, but it's often best to match the wheel's physical rotation (like 900 degrees) and then use the in-game "Steering Sensitivity" to fine-tune the ratio for each car

Top 5 or 6 per region qualify each round. Giving us a total of 18 in NA from the rivals boards and 15 in the other regions. Other regions (latam, eu, apac) will be joined by 4 drivers from race days finals for a total of 19 in grand finals. Drivers then compete for cash prizes.

No one wins anything for rival times in the competition except the sweepstakes winners. The sweepstakes is its own event and has different rules and eligibility.

Generally speaking I think it depends on the person more than anything. As gamer's we're good on the sticks already but the average person trying to get into racing games would prefer a wheel.

Forza specifically is optimized for controllers first. Especially with some of the settings like steering self alignment (100 by default), normal steering, and forgiving default joystick deadzones. The game's pretty easy to pick up on controller.

Yeah. It's like a switch flipped roughly around the one-hour mark. I would have to be significantly more aggressive on the handbrake to get the same rotation out of the car I was getting just 10 laps prior. I found the car drove the best between 25 and 55 minutes, then beyond that the understeer dial was turned up by a notch or two. And when you're chasing for those very top times, a subtle change like that makes a significant difference. I couldn't to save my life get anything lower than a 1:08.1 any time the session ran for an hour or more.

Report the time, there's an option on the leaderboard when you select the time. This is why results take atleast a week to verify. They're making sure none of the times are cheated.

We can assume because we're the fastest players in the game and know whats required to hit the time. Its impossible to run that with automatic and probably not with tcs. Although there's a couple tcs times.

The main point is that modded times are almost always auto with all assists. Times could be modded without showing that, but if it's #1 by a second or two and has all assists. It's modded 100%.

One can set good track times with ATM if you set the gears right , but in this challenge you cant change the settings, Best time I have gotten so far is 1:25 using a ATM but , I also had the TC off and STB on sport

Automatic takes time to shift, puts you in the wrong gear for the corner, and shifts at improper shift points. The trick is using manual with clutch on anything with a race transmission. Just drive it like manual and dont press clutch, theyre sequential transmissions like real race cars. Its actually slower to press clutch.

On top of that a big part of the time is downshifting fast to engine brake. It brakes faster and helps rotate the car. That and most ebrake moments are downshift, ebrake, upshift which is impossible on automatic.

In conclusion there's literally no way to hit a top time with automatic because youre losing too much on the straights and not abusing game mechanics.

ABS and TCS you can do well with, most people dont bother though because finals is no assists or braking line.

For reference Im sitting at a 1:20.8xx. Fast enough to see the time but too skill issued to replicate the lap.

Braking line is meta in forza, I turned it on in fm7 because you'll get rear ended by fast guys from braking early. If it was turned off for everyone I think Id do better.

We just use it as a rough brake reference since some of the brake zones arent marked well.

Back in GT 1 to 3 you never had a line you had to learn all your breaking points and figure your best line out for your self , I remember getting the Xbox 360 and playing FM2 for the first time and this line in the road was messing me up so I had to turn it off . I get what you mean as most people use it so they are slowing down to early and braking at the wrong points ,so in an online race everyone is either crashing into you or the guy in front is slowing you down , One reason I only race in privet lobbly . Was better in FM2 as you could start a public lobby , and set all the rules , I would force the line off and take collisions off and crash damage on full ,,, Don't know why Forza got rid of the play controlled public lobbies , Now I have to wait for friends to come online to race them , and most of my friends are in different time zones

Other way around, people brake too early without it. You can get used to any track no line it just takes time. A lot easier swaping cars and tracks every race with a brake reference. There are people who league race without it like @stiff obsidian but it's not easy.

I feel you though, I grew up on no line and raced fm 1-6 without it. Only turned it on when I got shamed by pros early in fm7.
