if you play LMU, forza on a wheel will drive you insane. LMU has issues with FFB but its generally pretty decent, its basically driving a real car compared to the lack of good ffb forza offers

Essentially forza is built for controller so the ffb and the way it interacts with wheel is weird. This is still the best forza has been on wheel though. Just expect it to feel weird at first, you'll figure it out and still have fun.

This car you have to drive with the rear tires. On turn one entrance, turn two exit and in between I assume is what is turn 3 and 4. For high speed yes on the last corner gotta use the rear to steer in. I just have gotten lazy and choose to drive without clutch because I keep ripping through LB buttons like crazy on my controllers. Hell Divers 2, forza and ARK LB is constant use. I’m also too uncoordinated to use the stick as a clutch. Even though it is fast.

Depends, Forza Motorsports force feedback is quite bad, however in my opinion it is still fun enough to drive. If you play sim games such as LMU, ACC then 100% worth it. I don't think buying a wheel only for Forza Motorsport is worth it though.

I bought the 923 and it’s weird. When the front would go one way and the back would catch up it felt like I had a trailer hooked to me. I kept swapping back and forth. I need a seat for it. I was just sitting straight up in my computer chair with a TV table tray as my mount 😂 felt like I was sitting on a moped.

It might not be a bad idea to see if there are any resources or info on things people have done to that seat to make it better. The thing that jumps out about it is how flat the bottom of the seat sits so if someone figured out how to angle that, it might make it more comfortable over longer sessions

It's an entry range seat so it'll be limited on how you can tweak it but might be worth checking out

ye ive done my research u can add long idk what u call it essentially long nuts or bolts or whatever that add space between the seat and frame

and also can swap the sticky pads for casters and unscrew like two screws to make it foldable ish if need be

the seat also slides fowards and back a bit which is nice

R3 and R5 pedals are garbage, the wheel base has a gritty feeling to it. Also depending on which wheel you get it may not have magnetic shifters or be smaller than what you are prepared for. Just a few things we noticed between my wifes R5 and my Alpha mini and p1000's

I use a wheel stand and its just fine, (the newer designs). I did minor reinforcement for slight increase to ridgity. Also had to modify pedal plate since they come up in the back but I needed to tilt mine away. But it works and the detachable wheels from the bases allow enough room for the desk to remain functional without a full base and rig moving or disassembly.

Also for whatever its worth I do like the slight adjustability of the srp-lites. And they are a big improvement still over the pedals that come with Logitechs G923 kit (sorry logitech!).

so r3 falls perfectly rn for me and if anything its relativley popular and lower cost so should be able to resell when I want to upgrade

Yea they seem to be the big 2 for console. I haven't used Fanatec but I've heard their customer service is dodgy. Moza I've heard is a little better. A friend has the R3 and upgraded the pedals to the crp load cells and is quite happy.

T1 I am fine, T2 is okay, T3, 4 and 5 are a disaster

I'm averaging 16.1s and 16.0s in the horseshoe. It's so hard. It's so important, though. You get a bad run out of the horseshoe and it handicaps you for the rest of the run. It just continues to snowball until the end. If I get a bad run out of the horseshoe, I don't even bother continuing the rest of the lap because there's no way I'm gonna recover it.

My weakest corner, by far, though, is the sharp 90 degree left hander going into the uphill bit leading to the end section of the lap. I have such a hard time keeping the monument going. I've found that a light tap of the handbrake helps a little bit, which is what I did on my lost .084 run, but it's still a struggle.

Oh I searched LMGC on yt and found your 1:08.2 lap lol. That is rather helpful. In T4 I use 3rd gear rather than 4th, 4th may help.

The games can go high up to 32nm. The driver of the wheel tries to output the power. If the wheel supports the power will go smoothly. But if not will go right and left trying to translate the output. Like having a small woofer and the song is a heavy bass club song going around 15Hz. In a 20inch subwoofer will sound amazing. In a small woofer will be like "bzzzzzzzbzzzzz"

Your wheel is only 11nm, its not going to translate 32nm inputs. Which causes clipping when signals overlap. I dont even know of a 32nm on the market. Highest I know of is sim magic, moza only goes to 16nm. At the end of the day forza's ffb is pretty bad so itd probably matter more in iracing / lmu. Unless you can use the app to tune the ffb better?

Clipping is usually caused from the wheel not having enough dynamic range to translate the ffb data. Things kind of blend together and its hard to tell what the wheel is telling you. Having an app beep when it happens sounds interesting but im not sure what itd do to help.

every game worth playing has a gain setting to prevent clipping. even forza has this. it does reduce the "dynamic range" the wheel has but if you "only" have 11nm, you kind of need that to happen anyway

only when you try hard on a course all day and it is cliping hard when you attacking a specific corner and suddenly you loose control in this corner every time. Then the beep will help you to understand that it wasn't your fault but something in the driver of the wheel that got trying to understand your input+the ffb

But yes, the way to prevent clipping is to lower the gain within the game, not on the wheel software

The sentra used to be a sexy car. The SER V spec when I grew up kinda resembled the later is300. Wasn't remarkable in any other way but it looked nice. The new ones are definitely not paying any respects to the brand. Which is sad. I used to like them.

I actually had the choice between the 2020 sentra or alitma and I went with the sentra.

I liked its exterior package more, and it felt more nimble on tight turns when I test drove both

while the altima does have a bigger engine and more power, it also comes with more weight and a bigger car

Coming off of a 2002 z71 silverado, I wanted something small and nimble

While I do miss the power of my LS, I much perfer the economy of the 4 banger

That's my biggest peeve with the series. Each game offers nothing new whereas quality is concerned. The same story, the same cars & events, they even recycled previous assets from past expansions like Lego & Hotwheels. It's just uninteresting at this point.. it's the same game every time but in a different map lol

I stopped playing after FH4. FH3 peaked IMO, was my first FH game but the moment they started to add emotes, character costumes in the later games and focus on the younger audience with childish garbage more than anything else was what made me throw in the towel with those games.

They're deffo different. Cars in FH from what I remember feel incredibly floaty and light. FM physics whilst super arcadey, cars feel much more heavy and weighted. My guess its the same engine with major tweaks

For the McLaren challenge we are allowed to change our set up settings like manual to automatic for example. Because I read and confirmed that the in store event that we are not allowed to changed those settings.

That's not really a Forza exclusive phenomenon. Most games with a competitive scene will typically have the same players towards the top. It's not easy to get to that top level.

It takes years of consistent practice to reach that point. A lot of us started when we were kids and no-lifed the game because we had all the time in the world to do so. The people who pick up the game for the first time thinking they'll be up there with the best in the game are in for a world of disappointment when reality hits.

Anyone can get to that point if they're motivated and determined enough, but it won't happen in a night. Most people don't have the desire nor motivation to grind the game to the extent the top players have, so it's almost always the same names on top.

I feel like a lot of people discount FM as being "easy" because it's not a full blown sim like iRacing, and while Forza is indeed an easy game to just casually pick up and play, mastering it is a different story.

Past FM titles were a lot harder to find pace than this one. Couple that and the fact more than half of the old guard pros have moved on to better things and it’s the majority of the reason most consider FM easy

That is true. It's tough going back to FM7 after playing FM'23. Everything feels like it's on ice in FM7, and it's something I didn't realize until I went back after playing the newest FM.

The skill gap has definitely shrunk in the newest game. As for old players leaving, that's an inevitability of every game. As old players leave there'll be a new set of players to come in and fill their space.

I feel like 2018 ForzaRC was when Forza was the most competitive. There were a lot of very fast players before that, but the 2018 FRC introduced a bunch of new players to the game that would go on to become incredibly fast. I feel like if I had the pace I do today back in FRC season #1, I would've had a very good chance of making it to the LANs.

I was only just starting at the time, though, so I was like 5 seconds off the pace. I was about as bottom of the barrel as you could get. 😅

Agreed. The principals are the same it just really depends on the player. I'm not tip/top but also the right settings. So much time is in the smallest of details. I promise most often than not our time is being lost because we are pushing too hard.

Other people attempting yesterday struggled to even make the first couple of corners and it took me a while to learn the game and throw some clean laps together for a 53.9. All done on a poorly put together rig that was set for the size of a teenager.

Wheel CAN be just as fast as controller, but it requires more effort to do so. FM titles have always been designed with controller use in mind. This newest FM is the best wheels have been, but pretty much all of the top players still stick with just regular Xbox controllers.

I just wonder how these so called community challenges will attract the actual community. G-Challange is dominated by the same ppl. since it was launched for the first time. So it‘s actually not for the community but feels pretty elitist. Especially when you are a recurring participant. I‘m fine with being stuck in the middle to high 200ish positions. But hey, this is, after all, a marketing tool. I‘m just a bit concerned that it does the franchise no good and it will end sooner or later like the ForzaRC did.

So true! I'm still working my fundamentals pretty hard in E through C in Rivals track by track. Down to limeport so far and been setting some top 20 times and some top 10 in scores/americas.

A hesitation on the throttle or a blip off for barely a split second will cost you a few tenths easily. As you increase to the stronger cars every mistake is amplified. A few tenths with a mistake on E might cost you closer to a half second on P.

I haven't changed anything yet but I imagine changing my braking curve would help as well in my software. The braking on the faster cars is more deliberate usually than the light trail brake usually thats on E.

I dont think there is any sponsoring involved. I think logitech is just very close to microsoft and holding a comp in a console based game is going to have a large number of participation while not needing to award the kind of prizes typically associated with the more "prestigious" sim titles

hey, i wanna dive into racing games and get a simrig in the future when i can afford it. For now i'll be playing on controller and i won't even get in the top 30%, however i wanna try my best.
Is there any recommended settings or things i should do? i've heard many people use controllers in forza motorsport but i feel like it's really hard to actually be good with a controller in a somewhat realistic racing game.
just swapped to manual shifting and turned off STM and TCS, but im keeping the racing lines on brake only for now, otherwise i dont think i can learn them.
my current best lap on the rival challenge is a 1:12:920, so i wont be a threat to anyone 😄

Watching replays on the leaderboard helps. Make sure you turn on telemetry so you can see what gears they use and how they shift.

is there a way to limit the steering? ive watched the replays of the first 2 on the leaderboard and both of them steer exactly 10% in every corner (apart from once or twice where they go above it) this looks unnatural as if theres a hotkey or some kind of limitation.
in my replay im constantly at 17% which, iirc, is when i move the stick to the edge.

they may be entering the corner at a higher speed or a differnt angle, or a combo of the two. Forza will dynamically limit steering range based on how fast you are going and the position of the car regardless of what assists you have enabled

to me it looked like theres some kind of setting/technique that limits it to 10% so you dont oversteer

youll get better input from one of the high level controller players than me on the sim steering, but generally learning to drive without abs and tc is going to be faster once you learn it. If you qualify, all assists are forced off in the grand final race anyway

Playing with the deadzones helps. Im using 0-98 because i have hall effect joysticks. If you have a stock controller 5-95 or 0-95 is better. Smaller range more snap. Also turn down the steering self assist in the bottom on advanced controller settings. Its 100 stock, drop that to 0.

Yup. Dáire McCormack "Hydra" is one player that instantly comes to mind. There are quite a few others as well.

If anything, I would say top Forza players are better at adapting to different racing games than those who just exclusively play sims. There have been a handful of top Forza players who went on to become top players in other games, but there are very few players from other games who went on to become top Forza players.

QuintenJeh is the only notable exception as he comes from Gran Turismo and is quite fast in GT7, but otherwise, you don't really see it too often.

I know James Baldwin and a few of the other Veloce members were pretty fast in FM7's Le Mans Esports series several years ago, but they weren't completely blowing everyone out of the water. The "slow" Forza guys were more than capable of keeping up and posing a threat.

There's 3 qualifying rounds. They take 5 people per round, per region in apac, emea, and latam. Then another 4 from the race day finals to make 19 total in each of those regional finals.

NA is just 6 per round and no race day finalists for a total of 18 in finals.

Saw this and I don't think its a bug, its a feature because the McLaren uses paddle shifts I assume with a dual clutch system so changing gear automatically applies clutch anyways like in real life

I think forza actually requires clutch from N to 1, but it will shift anyway if you dont. In ACC you just sit there if you fail to clutch in if required

it all depends on the games you play and where you play them. if its only forza, absolutely not. thats way too much to put towards a game with that poor of a wheel implementation. If the answer is a little more broad than that, its still a maybe. Its a premium to only use on console. IMO, the new RS50 is a better logitech option for console thats a step about the G923 line if thats the use case
