I’m running manual w a F1 style “sim” setup, but most of the top times are running manual with clutch, is there a significant benefit to having the clutch on the McLaren?

Hi Admins, just been practicing for the races in an online lobby and have come across a problem. When the settings are set to stock tuning and also damage is set to fuel and tyres, we ran into a problem where drivers were starting some races on different fuel amounts, even after a complete lobby reset. This is a big issue as the MP4/4 gains massive amounts of time over the lap when it has less fuel.
We were able to consistently start with 100% fuel by doing a full lobby reset and setting damage to 'cosmetic', but always had problems when it was set to fuel and tyres. Unless anyone knows a way to reliably run fuel and tyres, perhaps using cosmetic damage may be a better option?

For reference, we booted up Spa the first time with damage set to fuel and tyres and both of us started the race with 9 laps of fuel, when 100% fuel would've been 28 laps. We then did a full reset and started the race with 100% fuel as intended. Then went to Hakone and we both had 30 laps of fuel, which was less than 100%. More worryingly, I had 63.8% fuel at the start, the other driver had 61.2%, so would've had an advantage. We could not get these fuel amounts to change even with multiple full lobby resets, hence why we tried using cosmetic damage. If anyone has a better way to fix this reliably please let us know!

Well, while the Race Days case is being resolved, I'm attempting the online qualifying at Maple Valley—and wow, the skill level is impressive. I'm at 1:05.997, but I think I can improve it to the 1:05.7xx range; anything beyond that will be really difficult. Any advice?

Def turn the abs off. You’ll get used to it. And you don’t need to use the clutch on this car

Clutch shifts faster just dont press clutch, race trans things.

Abs probably doesnt matter, you should never be braking enough to use it anyways on this track.

1:06.8 is already very respectable, but if you want a few extra tenths try to use more engine braking on t1 and take t2 flat, if your back half is solid you should find a tenth or two

There are some laps where I can use 0 brakes on t1 and let the engine braking carry me all the way through the sweeper

Once you dip your tire into the grass dart your eyes to the track limits on the left side of the track to time your turn in, youll know when you did it right

The online penalty system is too lenient.

You can end someone's race putting them >30s behind and all you'll get is a 5 s penalty

It is yes. And in that instant, despite the fact he was being aggressive towards me, I got penalised with 2 seconds. And when your at a pace where you're only 0.4 faster with 3 laps to go had he not spun off that could've ruined any shot at 1st place for me, and rewarded his bad temper

It's a shame the penalty system is so awful half the time. And also the safety rating. Rarely do I spin anyone off or do I go off track yet I've been stuck in D class for months now and so I end up queuing with people who think it's bumper cars

Yeah fr, all 3 qualifiers so far have been very tough (except maybe Hakone, I think that really was my one chance but something happened in the family right during the last days of it)
I try to work on the track as a whole but some sections require more attention, so I guess both

T1 gets me when I’m warming up, sometimes I kiss the wall after the first turn leaving the amphitheater section, sometimes I dirty the lap by a silly mistake catching dirt before the rocket

I send it downshifting 3rd gear like it's turn 1, then drop 2nd on the apex for a second and go back to third. 2nd helps rotate like the ebrake but loses less momentum.

I drop 3rd earlier on that one, I have a different line I use. I'm pretty sure he drops 3rd for a split second and ebrakes, then goes back to 4th as he gets back on throttle. You can't see the ebrake in the telemetry.

I know because I've duplicated it roughly, it's just really hit or miss. I'll probably have to hit a 1:05 before I try his method, otherwise I'll choke away all my good laps.

Key is staying inside on exit so you can hold speed through the esses and carry it down the downhill. If you crest the hill wide you have to turn too much to make up for it and it scrubs speed / slows accel and loses tenths down the hill.

Holding the inside and then cresting the hill wide is killing you

You can change assists but not the the tune. Also it's not that you suck it's just that Forza's weird and you have to drive the car like you're blowing the engine every corner downshifting on entry. Otherwise the car doesn't rotate

Nope, you have to reference the forza leaderboards online to see what countries people are from. Then eliminate the people who've already qualified. Tricky part is round 2 results haven't been announced so you have to figure it out. lol it's a process.

As @edgy current says, you can only change the assists. The fuel has to be at 5%, and the tires must be softs. Lastly, and most importantly, the track grip has to be at 100%. All the admins worldwide have this in their .pdf. There is no room for interpretation here, and they have to abide by the general rules.

I don't think a player like you needs any advice, you're a beast in GT and other simulators. But use a lot of engine braking in the first corner and the hairpin in 1st gear to achieve a neutral slide and get a good entry into the corner.
I set a 28.835 and I feel I can get it down to a 28.7xx, but the lap has to be perfect.

you CAN be fast on a wheel but wheel in forza is trash. forza artifically limits steering wheel range based on your speed. That is a filter they use to make the game playable on controller but there is no way to disable it on a wheel

with this car, at speed, you only have really 20 degrees of steering before understeer and oversteer start at the same time

cars that should have 500-540 degrees of rotation, at any speed above like 20 mph, you get that same lock to 20 degrees

push past it and you get snap oversteer unless you have the tc cranked

I just joined a multiplayer lobby to check. There is a tab in the driver's list that shows the livery and tune creator. But we'd be relying on the game to actually work and show the tune.

For 2 reasons. If in next frame to be shown to your screen if your time needs to wait for 200ms for the next frame to creaded then you lost 200ms. The second reason is the physics on the springs. The springs in the cars are not asynchronous. They maths are co-calculated with the frames. You will get agressive spring bump in low frames while will be smooth release after pressure in high frames

Because it's well known in the community. This is the 4th LMGC on FM and Bowkett has won EU (fastest region) every time. Some races he had fastest lap by half a second.

He had to prove he was legit a while ago. Now when I'm theory crafting what WR record will be, I have to factor in ~.5s for the bowkett tax. I take the fastest lap time I can see possible and then shave another .5 because there's time he can find that we can't.

All the top guys have been racing against each other for years in leagues. So for the most part we already know who's who.

In FM6 and FM7, there was a menu that would show you the total number of laps completed / miles driven on each circuit, but this function sadly isn't available in FM'23. It makes no sense why it wasn't carried over, but most of what Turn 10 does doesn't make sense.

no, you dont need to run all 3 qualifiers to qualify. you only need to qualkify in one of the 3 seesions. To be eligible for the giveaway done at each round of qualifying, you would have needed to be registered and participated in that qualifying round. If you only ran in quali 3, you cant be eligible for giveaways that already happened
