I have finally found what I was missing and just did 2 56.49x laps in a row within like 10 laps of trying when before my absolute best lap was 56.51x after like 4 hours of trying

I have genuinely found what I was missing, I just did a full lap until the 2nd to last corner (the long right hander) where I was on par and at some point even slightly ahead of the #1 ghost, I just went a bit too narrow and had a moment of oversteer over the inside curb

It's mixed, most people are on controller. It's mostly line and technique. Understanding how to abuse the game etc.

Luckily on this you don't need a bunch of ebrake tricks. Just shredding down shifts to engine brake and throw the car in.

if you watch a replay of one of our ghosts and go into telementry, you can see what gears to use in corners etc, this helps me as well

I have found what works for the first part, I just cant get it right consistently, get it right like 2/10 times. I have found what works for the double right hander after the straight which I get right ~7/10 times right now and downhill lefthander I get right ~8/10 times. If there's any admins about, please could we get clarification on this potential strategy for the races?

The cars are forced stock which will put them on 100% fuel and mediums tyres, however if we pit in qualifying we could put soft tyres on and I believe they would then stay on for the following race. Would this be allowed? It would eliminate two qualifying laps as the pit would take up too much time, but the softs would be much faster for the final qualifying lap and subsequent race.
I don't mind if this is allowed or not, just need to know what to practice

Furthermore, if you pit and set the fuel, it will have your fuel set to that % for the race which gives another advantage

I believe there was an issue with the practice/qualy lobbies around Watkins Glen with some drivers experience less grip than others? Hopefully just running circuit races would eliminate this and means that nobody could pit without being seen. Also it should be fairly obvious if somebody was on softs compared to everyone else on mediums, and the fuel amounts can be seen in the replay/spectator telemetry

Currently we are looking at the patch preview they shared, which includes manual grid sorting for private matches. With this feature in mind, our current plan is to run Qualifying on Saturday and the races live-streamed on Sunday, so this should alleviate the issue you are describing.

I moved to a different PC and now my g29 ffb is very bad...tried reinstalling ghub and logitech gaming software multiple times but no help.....The initial left right turns feels like there is no feedback then the rest of the feedback is just very weak now

You need to make top 5 or top 6 in your region (depending on the region) to qualify for finals. You'd then compete for prizes and money in finals. There is no prize for setting a time per say. Although everyone that sets a time and signs up is entered into a sweepstakes. The sweepstakes is a lottery and not something you should expect to win, it's more of a pleasant surprise.

If you're still making progress just keep pushing! I'm guessing you're over braking for T1 and the one coming off the straight. Barely brake and slam 6th to 3rd, you have to really send it to get the time. Ideally you want around a 9.700 first sector and a 9.800 in the middle sector (double right over the hill). That's not perfect but you'd be in the 56's easy if you could hit those splits.

My best first sector's a 9.730 but there's .6's in it.

I do a lot of rewinds and skip laps to practice each corner, everyone has their own way.

I don't like cockpit cam, though. I find that it's too obstructive of my surroundings.

I play ACC and I got a 1:48.4 on Monza with a BMW M4, is that fast?

@tawdry tree T1 get as wide as possible to setup the entry. Go from 6th to 3rd and brake as little as possible to maximize the engine brake effect. Extend the exit a little more as well, less scrub = more accel = more speed for the straight.

You need to drop 3rd coming off the straight to send the car on entry. You're braking, not engine braking, and staying 4th.

Sloppy over the top of the hill, spun out on the curb coming down the hill and lost a couple tenths.

Going into the second to last corner you want to drop 2nd early to rotate the car and go back to 3rd to throttle out. Staying 3rd is slower, takes too long to rotate and get to the throttle point.

You can definitely get a 56, just need to learn how to abuse engine braking and not spin on a curb lol.

you can also change the keybinds, some people replace A for clutch and left shoulder for handbrake

Ya don't bother with automatic. You lose time everywhere with automatic.
Use manual with clutch.

Here's some notes for manual with clutch:

• Any car with a race transmission, don't press clutch because it shifts slower.

• Cars with a sport/street/stock transmission, switch to manual. You can use the clutch but it's really clunky in this game, not even worth the hassle.

• You want to shift up just before it hits rev limiter (in these cars)

• Downshift in the braking zone to the gear you want to be in for that corner.

• Every corner becomes a certain gear

I've heared that the car roaster is actually pretty decent. How good are the sounds and the driving experience of different cars? Do they vary or is it pretty much the same across them?

the driving experience on a wheel is across the board hot trash. at about 45 degrees steering input, all cars understeer and pushing past it will trigger snap oversteer if TC isnt used. This can be mitigated by adjusting a few settings, but those same settings reduce overall feedback from the car

you can drive in that 90 degrees of rotation ok enough but road cars with 900 degrees of wheel rotation are cut down to 10% of their real world usable steering angle

Majority of the top drivers play on controller. Theres only a handful on wheel. Most of the good wheel drivers gravitate towards ACC / iRacing etc

Moral of the story is the input device isnt the limiting factor. Mostly just need to find settings you like and put in the time.

Go into advance controller settings. 0-95 on steering deadzones. 0-100 on accel and decel. 0 self steering alignment.

Self steering helps smooth out you inputs but this car needs all the turning so 0.

If youre driving a car and it feels too touchy, turn it back up / play with the tuning. But most of the time I play and tune on 0.

got 56.3 splits 2 laps in a row, in the first lap I turned in too early for the final corner and in order to avoid invalidation I left off for a moment and then turned in again but it caused understeer and I ended up hitting the wall while I was 0.03 green on a 56.43

the 2nd lap I had the same thing but there I turned in too late for the final corner and just straight up drove into the wall, had a 0.01 green on the 56.43 after hitting the wall on that attempt

You want to either almost hit the curb or take the curb 50-50

I like the cut it because it shortens the track and helps rotate the car. It's an easier line to hit too. Ideally you don't want to cut the curb though. Inside tires should be over the white line/up to the curb. It carries more speed like that. It's a razor sharp line to hit though and usually ends up going wide or kissing the curb and being pushed wide.

The worst was in season 2 when everyone realized the track got more rubbered in the more laps you did. I did ~500 laps on a saturday, paused the game. Woke up and did another 226 or so on sunday to finally hit my qualifying time.

I'm pretty sure Craviator ran ~1000 laps to set his time. I'm talking IN THE SAME SESSION. 😭

726 laps was roughly 12 hours if I remember correctly. The dog days, so glad they fixed that.

In the housing of the triggers, there are little pads at the bottom to dampen the sound of the triggers being engaged. To me, this sounds like one of those pads is coming loose or somehow got flipped, which is causing the trigger to get stuck as it's coming in contact with the sticky residue of the dampening pads. I had this same problem with one of my controllers. I ended up removing the dampening pads all together. Unfortunately, as a consequence of doing this, the triggers are A LOT louder when being engaged/disengaged as they're hitting the hard plastic housing rather than the dampers. All you have to do is pry off the side grips with something like a credit card and you'll have access to the inner housing of the triggers, but be warned that removing the dampening pads makes the triggers substantially louder.

Now a part of the 56.3 gang. I fumbled a 56.2, but I'm still pleased with a 56.3. I wasn't being nearly aggressive enough through the middle section and it was costing me serious time. I experimented with new lines and handbrake timing tonight and it gained me a tenth and a half with room to grow. I even had one lap where I was ahead of Bowkett's ghost down the long straight heading into the mid section.

It’s possible man, my best tip is have all assists off if you haven’t already, and be in the gear you want to be in for that specific corner on your breaking zone right before you turn, hopefully I’m making sense lol
