How would you know if you can't open the tuning menu in rivals? Curious what makes you say this. I'll test it if there's any validity.

I'm assuming you loaded into free play or something. If you can in fact use tunes in this rival let me know how you're doing it. I can record evidence and get it submitted. Either Logitech can talk to their reps or I can submit it through my channels. But we need evidence to get anything done.

I just tested it quick on my lunch break. Changed the final drive to 6.10 so it'd top out at ~127mph with the stock gears. Load into the rival and it's stock gearing still doing like 130 in 3rd. When I back out of the rival the FD is still 6.10 but definitely stock in the rivals.

What are you guys doing through luffield? Sometimes I use handbrake but on my best runs through there I don't usually need it, the downshift gets all the rotation done.

In my opinion it drives much better, more stable and has a very much controllable over- and understeer. Depending on the scenario of course.

You can really send this one, I haven't even started with the ebrake and I'm at a 1:36.7. There's so much time in this combo it's dumb. There's not as much rear grip especially low speed compared to the m23. I have to feather in 2nd but it's pretty much flat out in 3rd, turns a lot better at speed though.

Then when it kicks in you can grab the slide and carry it out

The less rear grip makes ebraking a lot harder, the m23 was pretty much automatic. Most times you don't need it but definitely helps in one or two places.

Forza just isnt really designed with wheels as the first choice. Its still fun with one, but you arent using one to be fast

I haven't played FM'23 on Xbox, but as someone who's played FM7 on both Xbox and PC, playing at 120fps on PC versus 60fps on Xbox makes absolutely no difference in raw pace. However, the higher frames do make me more consistent, so while I don't necessarily run faster times by playing on PC, I can hit those fast times more consistently.

Im playing on 120 right now but only because VRR fixes the frame jitter. Kept it on 60 for a while because of that.

From what I understand, the Series X can output as high as 120hz. I personally run 165hz on PC, but my PC isn't powerful enough to consistently stay at 165hz with high settings, so I bounce between 120 and 140ish fps. Fortunately, the framerate bouncing like that doesn't seem to hinder the game in any way. In FM7, on the other hand, inconsistent framerates made the game absolutely unplayable. I could always lower my graphics settings to get more consistent framerate, but it doesn't really negatively affect me in FM'23, so I see no reason.

I just picked up a Samsung G80SD on black friday, totally worth it if you have money to blow.

The new qd-oleds are legit perfect gaming monitors. But as far as 60 vs 120, outside of forza gametime quirks gaining a little, the input lag is lower on 120 vs 60. The higher the FPS the lower the input lag for most monitors.

Lower classes probably wouldn't matter as much but with these cars the responsiveness doesn't hurt.

i’ve never noticed any input delay on forza, maybe because of my monitors response time idk, but personally i’ve never felt any input delay playing forza on 60 frames

If youre getting input lag you need to change your peripherals like your wheel off or settings, forza doesnt have input for me, theres only a disconnect to the car which you could be possibly mistaking it for. Could also be a dodgy response time. I switch between monitor and tv depending where i am and yea no input lag

I find the best way is to chip away tenth or hundredths little by little. i set little goals for myself like "ok today my goal is to just improve a tenth" and just go at it with baby steps. I also like to follow a ghost that is only a spot or two ahead of me, so i can see where I already have good pace and where i can improve throughout the lap. if you set ForceOne's ghost and just hope to keep up by the end he'll be so far ahead that you aren't really going to learn anything. If i do all that and are still stuck, ill go and watch the top two or three times in the world with telemetry on to see where they're gaining time vs myself. after a while i find i get burnt out and need to take a break. coming back later refreshed helps more than you think.

tl;dr: 1. baby steps/small goals. 2. chase a rival near your time. 3. study film. 4. take a break

1ms response is the gtg pixel refresh rate. It has more to do with ghosting than input delay. Input delay is processing time coupled with the refresh rate. Obviously with higher refresh rates there's less time between each frame so they'll be inherently faster. But my monitor has a .03 pixel refresh rate (aka response time) and roughly 11ms input lag on 120fps and 16ms input lag on 60fps @gilded trench

It's not lying, it just doesn't mean what you think it does.

It gets down to like 2ms input lag at 240hz but xbox can't handle all that beef.

"gtg" stands for grey to grey, it's a measurement of how fast a pixel can change from grey, to black, to grey. I might be a little off on that explanation but close enough. The faster the pixel response the more smooth motion is. But that's more of an issue for FPS, really doesn't mean anything for racing. Take @vale bear's 2ms 165hz monitor. I'm guessing it's an IPS panel so in shooters with fast motion the ghosting would be rough. You wouldn't be able to see much until you stop turning. Luckily forza doesn't have that problem since we're not trying to 180 no scope people. So it's a big nothing burger for forza.

Have you compared it to a TN panel or OLED? Hard to say if you haven't compared. I have a 2k@144hz TN panel, 4k@60hz IPS, 1080@60 24" LED, and 32" QDOLED. When I bought my IPS I meant to use it for gaming but it lasted about an hour before I relegated it to web browsing only lol.

Shooters at 120fps are night and day, that's the main thing. Aiming is so much smoother and responsive. I went from like 65% accuracy to 71% doing warm ups and realizing the FPS was set wrong. Same thing in CoD, it's kind of like poling rate on a mouse.

That and being able to see while turning fast, are the main advtanges for shooters.

its an advantage when driving at the limit but a lot of this type of thing is more about exploiting game mechanics to make the car do things in a certain way than driving at the limit. Also at a high enough force these type of cars in forza are very difficult to drive because the steering can get incredibly heavy. Not really an issue on something like a G923, but on something that can be wound up high its a different story

When I played on wheel in fm4 I turned it down too. My team mates who play this game on wheel sometimes say the force feedback tells you you're at the limit too early. The actual limit is just beyond where the game is telling you, something along those lines.

last year we were slightly faster with tuned cars than the qualifying, those of the semi finalists who are good at tuning made tunes for everyone to even the playing field, and most people had time to practice with the tunes to get used to it. mostly just gearing changes and suspension tweaks but nothing crazy

thats pretty much what i did im garbage at tuning. tuning as a whole being allowed has to do with the way the races are set up so the game doesnt crash or something like that (I dont remember exactly but there is a game related reason why they have to be on, im sure someone could explain further). I get in funks all the time but i find if i step away for a day or two and come back with a fresh set of eyes it helps a lot. Burnout is def a thing with time trialing

Another thing to remember when you're testing is the track rubbers is a lot faster with a full lobby. You're better off testing on 100% rubber w/dynamic to start if you're running solo.

Unless you're having trouble without the braking line, in which case it's just practice and ironing out your brake markers.

According to my rudimentary math it'd take 80 laps solo to reach the rubbering level a 16 player lobby reaches after 5 laps. So that might be part of it lol.

Everyone has doubts in their first competitive event. Until you prove it to yourself it's only natural. Just have to keep blind faith in yourself and see it through, otherwise you'll regret not giving it full effort. Pro competition seems cool at first but it's work and nothing's guaranteed. The time investment is a huge gamble, but in my opinion the thrill of competing on that level is worth the frustration getting there.

Yup. The first time around is always very nerve-racking. It's very intimidating when you're the new guy in a lobby full of the best players. The imposter syndrome is immense, and at least for me, I let it get to my head in the beginning and it's as though it made me forget how to play the game.

I started "competing" in Forza tournaments in 2016, but it took me until 2018 before I finally made it past the Rivals stage and got into an actual race that wasn't just racing against ghosts. It was one of the Sunday Showdowns in the 2018 ForzaRC, and if I remember correctly, we raced three combinations.

One of the combos was an Evo 8 at Nurb GP, and another one was a DBR9 at Maple Valley. I don't remember what the third combo was. Anyway, after finishing dead last in the Evo 8/Nurb GP combo by several seconds, the event couldn't have started worse for me.

Fast-forward to the DBR9/Maple Valley combo, and I kept up with the pack for... Oh? Maybe three corners? Then I went a little bit too wide out of a corner and was sucked off the track by the grass. The next thing I knew, I was once again dead last, and it just continued going downhill from there. A couple laps later, I misjudged my line through the corner of death at the end of the lap leading to the start/finish line, then BAM! — just like that and I found myself eating a tire wall sandwich.

Simulation damage was enabled in these races, so this incident totaled my car and made it completely undrivable. It made no sense to continue on, so I quit the race feeling brutally humiliated after making a clown of myself racing against some of the best in the game.

It wasn't even for a lack of practice or anything — I was just so nervous and felt like such a huge imposter that it was like I forgot how to play. Going forward from that day, I started racing in community leagues from TORA and whatnot, and participating in those community races was what ultimately made the difference in building my racing confidence over time.

Rivals, Semis, and Finals are online. There's only 1 more race day event going on in colombia so if that's not your local spot it's irrelevant anyways. You can qualify at a live race day event but they're about done. Those who qualify at race days still race online for semis and finals. So yes everything is online at this point.

Is anybody willing to offer some advice? I been stuck in the top %5 percentile at 1:39 for a week. Been trying to get better at trail braking, I just can't get faster. Any pointers?

Don't trail brake this car how you "should". Slam it down through the gears to over-rev it and then let that rotate the car into the corners.

The even more advanced technique is combining that with a handbrake tap in some corners but the gears will do most of the work for you most of the time.

just to clarify you still need to trail brake. but some corners you'd also down shift hard to make the car rotate more. cant comment on the handbrake technique as i havent figured out how to make that work yet. but if you watch the top times they all tap the handbrake.

I was just wondering is it just me or we can't flat out the first corner because I just tried putting in a few laps, but I was not even able to start my lap without understeering like crazy could someone help please. I feel like the car is totally different from the last time I played. I've tried a couple of laps on the controller before I don't know if it could affect anything

Definitely flat turn 1, you just have to turn earlier. Car understeers at speed from all the aero but has all the grip. Just turn sooner or slightly lift if you're late.

No you can't flat copse, you barely brake. I usually drop 5th but most 34's drop 4th for a split second to help rotate before going back to 5th to throttle out.

Pretty sure if you drop 4th it's a no brake

Not sure honestly since I don't have ghub, but I've read in forzaverse the game keeps crashing with ghub. People had to re-install it recently to get it working again.

I'm at a 1:35.640? I think, 6xx atleast. I can see the low 35's high 34's it's just a full send. Only place I ebrake is luffield, rest is just using engine brake to rotate and carry speed

First split should be a 14.0-14.2, maggetts and becketts should be around a 6.0

We have to break up LATAM and NA manually. The leaderboard for Round 1 is up on the forza website and lists countries. I know most already because it's my 3rd LMGC and its mostly the same people.

So you use the forza leaderboard to check countries, and #🏆race-results to see who already qualified and remove from the results.

I think my worst section is luffield and vale chicane

Luffield is an 11.750 on a good one. I have a couple .750's and one 11.710, probably .6's on a perfect entry and exit

Basically just drop 2nd and tap e brake when your rear tire gets to the first red sausage. Ebrake point is right around there. Let's you get on throttle and carry all the speed down the straight into copse. Ebrake is only worth like a tenth or 2 in the corner but it's worth like .5 by the time you enter copse.
