It feels like civilizations progress too fast, within a hundred years they have rockets and nukes. It would be cool if they would have to go through the original world box progression, and unlock modern stuff once they’ve unlocked everything.

For M3 I believe it's tied to town hall--the higher the level, the more advanced they become
For the actual game, I'm not entirely sure but it probably relies on town hall too, big guess though
