#Monk challenge class

this idea is for a class that unlocks after a player has lv50 on one hero. Monk class with shapeshifting abilities. I thought maybe it could be a challenge class that has alternative gameplay strategies (such as the incentive to replace a mount with an ability or to have a separate spawn to Lir's Reach. They are not engaged in the questline the same way as other classes

I'm also not really a fan of the mounts and I wish I could hide them or that the game had shrink and grow ammies like in the early days. That would be a classic, though they're a bit informal. Maybe there could be an ingame item to hide the mount. They're awesome but I really enjoy the game on foot.

The ideas are kinda silly but I thought I'd write them down anyway to boost discussion about the game's future updates. I don't think I'm a fan of the game having slop either

a lot of the Celtic vibes have already been captured. Even dresmlikeness in gelebron's

i haven't seen the newest areas yet

In any regard adding a entire new class will require gear/equipment to be added from the bottom of the game all the way to the top for that class and will need to be balanced. Now maybe this is offensive to deca but as its accurate they have no right to take offence but do you see the dev team who hasn't managed to fix many small issues the game as being capable of adding a entirely new class and gear for it without causing severe imbalances and bugs? Considering the current lack of balance ingame and bugs they've either been unable or unwilling to do anything about

#

Deca has had a entire year to optimise and fix VOA balance and issues and yet its now worse than its ever been.

it's a pretty classic idea with some level of bending the game's theme. just to say that nothing like that ever really left the table to me. sometimes this game feels really small, as much as it's in its gemlike state. some of Celtic Heroes updates were pretty expansive like with the graphics overhaul

Would take a level of reworking and balancing that I can't see Deca even being remotely close to being able to pull off new class means new gear added to all loot tables and balancing, new skills to workout and balance. Monk subclasses couldve existed if they'd actually invested into developing skills and gear for unarmed weapons like knuckles but then it would be another build option not a separate class.

i liked the idea of it being an unlockable class so it has an excuse to have a quirk

I'm not trying to destroy the idea just being realistic about its implementation and the capabilities of Deca

Celtics problem for the most part is bugs and instability at the moment and deca trying to expand onto anything without first repairing and supporting the games core systems and mechanics will be like trying to build on quicksand

Oh I was thinking like you would have to create a new character and then it would be a christian monk that uses strictly hand-held (for starters) and might have more alternative questing such as innate chaos resistance matched with a monk questline instead of following the warden gear but that sounds like the start of a different game

Idk if something could mix up the core gameplay easily

Yea that's the thing you are missing the key point to my counter argument and that is that unfortunately for us we have Deca games running the show. Now if the game was working just fine and had no issues/bugs/glitches and only needed new content then we'd be able to have more open discussion on the topic I'd just rather have the dev team and their limited capabilities and resources be focused on important issues.

that's a guiding compass on what's right for the game. hopefully it stays up for a long time too

it already takes 4 lixs at 180 and 6-8 at 200+ from what I remember thats an hour to two hours per level thats too long lol

no we are not doing class changes 😭

# cedar coyote you don't like the idea?

The idea would make the most sense as a complete new class/character making class branches would be too complicated. But then creating entirely new classes would require development of skills, equipment and gear from the ground up from level 1 to endgame which would obviously include met/warden/dl/edl/Dg armour sets along with lux sets along with drops from each boss to be added. I just don't see it being realistic for celtic heroes and as for branching classes at certain levels the game doesn't really support that possibility either. It would take significant investment of time and resource from Deca to make such major changes to class system

#

As I said I didn't come to destroy the idea as its a good idea but what it comes down to is as follows

  1. Can the game support it?
  2. Is deca willing to make that kind of change and investment?
  3. Is deca capable of making that kind of change without breaking the game?
  4. Would players actually want it?

I just feel as of this moment Deca needs to work on alot of other issues and actually get the game back to a stable functioning state. Now VOA is still a problem as many can't go there now I understand some people will use the "just buy a new phone" retort but majority of players aren't in the position to or willing to spend £500+ on a new device to play celtic heroes. As things stand right now Deca has excluded a large percentage of players from experiencing VOA and it shows by how much server populations have dropped off, you would have logically thought expanding the game would have brought more back and more players in but as its buggy and crashes constantly and from what ive heard is incredibly demanding on performance and battery life of even the higher end devices that goes to show its a problem and needs serious work to optimise.

#

So that all said I'd personally like to see Deca fix those problems along with the various bugs and glitches players are having before even entertaining the idea of making additions or major changes

Yeah I think you’re looking at it the right way. Right now it really makes more sense to focus on fixing what’s already there, getting the game into a stable state and sorting out VOA so people can actually play it normal.
At the same time devs still keeping track of ideas like this. It’s not something that would be ignored, just something to come back to later once things are in a better place overall.

It would be cool to see tidier timings for things like when combat ends before regen starts
