  • So rangers are in a terrible state right now being the worst dps class, here are some much needed buffs for the class to be in a better state.
    Double shot cast time and lockout are too high change to double attack values (double attack deals 4x damage over time vs double shot (over autoing instead) due to faster cast time lockout)
    Fix double shot damage gear to actually give damage, pretty straight forward. -main suggestions for a fix prob most important

Buff alternate skills (sharpshot double shot our only strong late game net damage gain skills), longshot when close to maxed as ranger is a net loss vs auto attack - (longshot useful early leavels falls off late game into being unusable) so is explosive arrow at basically all stages of game (buff scaling or lower cast time lockout massivly- is so bad becuase it deals less damage than total autos it stops you using)
Barbed shot, pretty bad skill long cast times its only just a net positive but a tiny one, needs far higher tick damage scaling- akin to rends (its equal in terms of cooldown tick speed, base dmg plus effect) - dmg loss ifmore than one ranger casts

Wouldn't say no to more scaling on steady aim sharpen wep (sharpen wep prob needs most) or time extention on skill.
explosive arrow, defensive spikes, camo and conceal are all next to useless at all stages in game.
Damage lost stat= lost dmg from auto attacks prevented by casting. total gained = average damage total casts skill in 15min- lost dmg

Double shot: change the lockout time to be the same as double attack. Double attack has a cast time of 1s and a lockout of 0.5s. Double shot has a cast time of 1s, and a lockout of 1.27-1.37s(depending on lag). This means that while double attack deals 2 autos of damage in 1.5s, double shot deals 2 autos of damage in ~2.3s, it is almost not worth using double shot over just autoing compared to rogue/warrior always using double attack. Difference between them is shown above with same stats.

Longshot: same idea, LS is super slow. has a cast time of 1s +35% of your attack speed, and a lockout of 1.27s. This means at minimum on heroic haste, longshot takes at least 2.67s to cast, and will pretty much never deal more than the 2.5 auto attacks you miss out on. Change the cast time to 0.5s + 35% attack speed, and the lockout to 0.5s.

Longshot even with high dd gear doesnt perform. and no bara- bara version even worse ss shown below (this one no bara next ss bara)

I’d love for them to make steady aim and sharpen weapons last 3 minutes, like the fire/ice attune, and also stay on through death. With as many times as us rangers die at crom and others bosses, I find myself casting buffs more than I do fighting.

Fixing the range on longshot also, it’s extra range is worthless when you lock down stuck unable to use other skills at same range,
And when you get in range it gets interrupted,
And when a step closer you can’t cast it,
That’s without the damage issues it has in cast time vs autos

Double shot is too slow,

Having sharpen weapons and steady aim constantly needing refreshed takes needless time away, make steady aim permanent as passive or increase duration timers to both.

Just go for steady and sharpen time extension to be 3 min as att, and make dbl shoot be the same as dbl attack (I mean shouldn’t be hard ig just do copy paste most of the code) and fix the dbl shoot stats and bonuses on crom equipment and that should be enough for rangers ig

Even the ch database character builder is missing a bunch of stuff Tbf, but that was only ever good at working out base stats didn’t have anything for skills

How bout just nerf other classes and give rangers only the absolutely needed buffs like longshot

Longshot is my most favorite skill in the game, I used to love using it in arena PvP. Sniping people tryna run away and pinning them with high dmg

It’s too bad in a boss dps scenario where it’s a stand still button mashing marathon it falls off a cliff cause it can’t keep up with hasted autos and faster skills

Game balance is so f’d up thanks to years of buffs. Lower resists, lure sources absolutely everywhere, giving rogues shadowstrike, letting sword warriors use rupture, the insta cast update that made fb/ls/qs/sharp/pummel insta cast, premium mounts/pets… on top of horrendous power creep and mountains of swaps… it needs to stop somewhere and devs need to take game balancing seriously if they want to have a serious endgame.

Notice how nothing in there exclusively benefited ranger as well.
